2003 Nightlife Awards is an evening of entertainment by the best
New York City has to offer in Cabaret, Comedy and Jazz. The star-filled
show was presented at THE TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC -
http://www.the-townhall-nyc.org/)
on Monday, January 27th at 8:00 pm. Directed by Jeff Cohen, the
evening was co-hosted by downtown diva Lea DeLaria and cabaret icon
Andrea Marcovicci.
A roster
of 23 judges selected the winners of The Nightlife Awards in 19
categories. The judges were: Robert L. Daniels of Variety, Naomi
Frisch of Comedy Central, Steve Futterman of The New Yorker, Gary
Giddins of The Village Voice, Ira Gitler of Jazz Times and Downbeat,
Joann Grigioni of Comedy Central, Joe Grossman of Time Out NY, Stephen
Holden of The New York Times, David Hurst of Show Business Weekly,
Peter Leavy of Cabaret Scenes Magazine, Lesley Mallgrave of Oxygen,
Howard Mandel of Jazz Journalists Association, Ben Ratliff of The
New York Times, Rex Reed of The New York Observer, Roy Sander formerly
of Back Stage and CitySearch, Gene Santoro of The Daily News, Gene
Seymour of New York Newsday, Barbara & Scott Siegel of TheaterMania.com
& Siegel Entertainment Syndicate, comedy producer Jeff Singer, Frank
Smiley of NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Jonathan Warman of
HX Magazine and K. Leander Williams of Time Out NY.
