LONG RUNNING SHOWS



This Holiday season, THE EDISON BALLROOM (240 West 47th Street, NYC - 212-201-7650) will welcome the swing era sounds of George Gee and his Make-Believe Ballroom Orchestra as they entertain guests with a new show that evokes a golden era: "Sleigh Bells Swing." The show will run from Saturday, December 20th through Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 (with no performance on December 24th, 2008). George Gee and his 22-piece Big Band offer the perfect Holiday treat for not only swing and jazz music fans, but also for tourists and tri-state area residents looking for an incredible Holiday entertainment experience. Tickets for the floor show and dinner are $190 per person including all drinks and dancing; tickets are $75 per person for general dancing, include open bar and hors d'oeuvres (post-dinner and floor show).

Australian Variety Entertainer Of The Year recipient Darren Williams returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday & Tuesday, December 29th & 30th at 7:00 pm with his brand new show celebrating the life and music of the man who inspired the musical THE BOY FROM OZ, Peter Allen. His show, "The Boy From Bondi" features songs from Arthur's Theme to I Honestly Love You, Don't Cry Out Loud to I Go To Rio. Darren explores the songbook of fellow Aussie entertainer Allen, but very much in his own award winning style. Eric Michael Gillett serves as Director with Dennis Buck, Musical Director. NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS TUESDAYS THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her "every Tuesday night at 9:30 pm" spot at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 minimum.


NYC: SCOT ALBERTSON WITH 4TH CD RELEASE EVENT

Scot Albertson and the Daryl Kojak Jazz Quintet continue their second year of monthly shows when they return to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATER (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Tuesday, December 30th at 9:30 pm. The Quintet is comprised of Daryl Kojak (Musical Director/Pianist), Cameron Brown (Bass), Tony Jefferson (Drums), Sue Terry (Alto Sax) and Dave Pietro (Alto & Tenor Sax). Special Guest Pianist: Jerry Scott. Scot continually presents new music in each performance including songs to be included in their newest CD with will be released that night. A complimentary copy of the new 4th CD will be given to all in attendance in appreciation of their support. This will be Scot & Daryl's 16th consecutive monthly performance at the Laurie Beechman. L.A.AREA: ROSLYN KIND AT CATALINA'S TO CLOSE YEAR

Scott Stander and Associates present Roslyn Kind in a special Los Angeles engagement on Tuesday & Wednesday, December 30th & 31st at CATALINA BAR & GRILL (6725 West Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, CA - 323-466-2210). Ms. Kind is familiar to both national and international audiences for her headlining appearances at some of the most prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, The Greek Theater and London's Cafe Royal. In 2006 she made her long awaited Carnegie Hall debut with her frequent musical collaborator and friend, Michael Feinstein. On Broadway, she starred in the musical revue 3 from Brooklyn. Additional theatrical credits include the Off-Broadway production of Show Me Where the Good Times Are, Leader of the Pack, Ferguson the Tailor and the Los Angeles production of William Finn's Elegies. Cover for Tuesday, December 30th is $35. New Year's Eve cover is $60 plus dinner or 2-drink minimum.


NYC: GREGORY MOORE & HIS COSMOPOLITAN ORCHESTRA

ScoBar Entertainment presents singer/bandleader Gregory Moore at IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Tuesday night, December 30th, with sets at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Moore has had a long and varied career in music, ranging from grand opera (Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera) to his current affiliation with the music of the 1920s and 30s, which he performs with his 12-piece, 1930s-style dance orchestra, The Cosmopolitan Orchestra. Gregory debuted his orchestra in January of this year at a sold-out performance of a centenary tribute to the 1930s crooner, Russ Columbo, Living in Dreams: The Russ Columbo 100th Birthday Tribute. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum. $15 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.


S.F.AREA: LOVE & MOORE RING OUT THE OLD, BRING IN THE NEW
*** NEW YEAR'S EVE CABARET EVENT ***

Darlene Love and Melba Moore, pop artists and rock and roll favorites, will appear at the RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189) for nine performances from Saturday, December 27th through Sunday, January 4th, including two shows on New Year's Eve with champagne and holiday extras. Showtimes vary so check the RRAZZ website for all the details. From Darlene Love's first number one recording, "He's A Rebel", through her string of hits, including "Da Doo Ron Ron," "He's Sure The Boy I'm Gonna Marry," and "Christmas Baby (Please Come Home)" to the countless songs on which she sang backup for artists like Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Dionne Warwick, Cher and Aretha Franklin, she is still blazing a trail of success in the music industry and has been nominated to the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame. Melba Moore began her career in the ground breaking musical "Hair," where she originated the role of Dionne. During her 18 months in the show, she replaced Dianne Keaton, becoming the first black actress to replace a white actress in a lead role on Broadway. This was followed by the role of Lutiebelle Gussiemae Jenkins in the long running musical, "Purlie.,". Her show-stopping performance in "Purlie," won Melba the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress In A Musical. Tickets are $50 - $150.


NYC: MICHAEL FEINSTEIN AND THE SINATRA HOLIDAY PROJECT
*** CABARET HOLIDAY EVENT ***

FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) will continue its 10th Anniversary season with the return of the club's founder Michael Feinstein for an exclusive engagement from Tuesday, December 2nd through Tuesday, December 30th. Musical Director John Oddo will lead a 17-piece band featuring Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar, Jim Saporito on drums, and David Finck on bass. Michael is celebrating his new CD "The Sinatra Project" and will bring back the great romantic songs performed by "Ol' Blue Eyes" and combine them with seasonal classics into the new program "The Sinatra Holiday Project." Antonia Bennett, the acclaimed vocalist, will be his special guest for the run. Shows are scheduled for Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 8:30 pm and Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. (No 10:00 pm show on Christmas Day, December 25th). There are covers of $95, $125 & $250, all with a $40 food/drink minimum.
