HERE & THERE
I am all caught up on the news again! Except for three items regarding events in August, all the press releases (the usable ones I mean) I had on file have been added to the website and a brief excerpt including in today's newsletter. I has really been a slow week - cabaret news-wise at least.

I even had time yesterday to update all the member pages on the website as well - including all new and renewed members for the 2007-2008 membership year, which officially starts on July 6th. You can check if you are listed by clicking on the button at the top of every page on the website marked HOTLINE MEMBERS.

Still to complete are all the member CABARET CD sales pages - all SILVER members get a chance to advertise one CD for free on a special page on the website - GOLD members can display up to 5 CDs. Just click on the button at the top of every page on the website marked CABARET CDs. This section if for members only - and is "by request." If you are a member, and wish your own special page, there is a link on the Cabaret CD index page to a special form you should use to send your request.

And if you have not yet joined, please keep in mind that the special CD Sales pages for the 2006-2007 membership year will be deleted on July 6th (or thereabouts). All 2006-2007 memberships expire on that date as well.

What an exciting cabaret night last night! It was opening night for Julie Wilson at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/), and the place was packed with fans - enthusiastic fans. Ms. Wilson was her sparkling self, bursting on stage with boas aflutter. I hope everyone in the NYC area gets to see this show. Julie, at 82, never ceases to put on an entertaining and thrilling performance. It was opening night, the power press was there, and Julie was a bit nervous - who wouldn't be - so there were a few "bumps" in the road. But the audience loved her, cheered her and forgave the occasional missed lyric. And Julie responded by delivering a totally thrilling and emotionally rich performance. Don't miss this most amazing woman - you will be enriched and inspired.

UPDATE ON MY IDENTITY CRISIS - I received my replacement Social Security Card on Tuesday, received my temporary State ID card yesterday (the official one should be here in about 10 days). Best part of my day yesterday: The gal at the MV Department did not believe I was over 65! Got my 10-year ID for a mere $6.75 - the youngsters have to pay $14!

And that is about it for today. Check out the news items below for some exciting and/or interesting events coming up in the next few weeks. More on Monday!

ABOUT CABARET NEWS IN THE NEWSLETTER AND ON THE WEBSITE
Information about other shows around the country and around the world can be found on the CABARET NEWS page of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website. How do you get an item posted in the CABARET NEWS section of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website? Just e-mail me a press release of at least four paragraphs, giving the complete information on your show, CD release or other cabaret related event. Include photos in jpg or gif format if available. Please send me complete information - and do not merely e-mail me a copy of your flier or a reference to a website.

By the way, I usually trim quotes from reviews from the press releases I receive before using the item on my website or in the newsletter, so don't count them when putting together the four or more paragraphs. And, please, please don't send in your press release with all those annoying html links (with embedded photos, distracting backgrounds, etc.), or simply a .jpg of your post card or as one of those "e-vite" things that require me to "click to open" and lead to a web page somewhere. Just send in your press release or listings request in simple .txt format (the format I write these issues in and use for the website).

IT'S TIME TO GO
Near the top of this newsletter I promised that you would read things in this issue you will not find published anywhere else. Did I keep my promise?

Your membership donations support this publication and the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website. If you enjoy the fruits of our efforts and would like to support us, why not join as a supporting member? Your donation is most important to me, not just to pay for my food, cable, phone, DSL and rent, etc., but also as a confirmation of your appreciation. Can you please help?

For information on becoming a member of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE, just click on the JOIN HERE button on the website. You can even make your membership donation by credit card, using PayPal. If you prefer not to use a credit card and PayPal, you can send a check made out simply to Stu Hamstra and mail it to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE, 676A Ninth Avenue #120, NY, NY 10036.

I realize that there is probably far more information here than you might be able to digest in one reading, but please keep in mind that for the performers mentioned, CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE is one of the few publications that spread the word about their shows and performances. To them, that item about their show is most important, and the fact that every issue published is also posted on my website means another place where they can be found by fans and search engines (Google, etc.) alike. Your membership donations make this all possible.

And that is just about the way it was.

Hugs & Stuff,

STU
