CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE
#030101 - Saturday, January 18, 2003 Since 1990 Your First, Best,
and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News
If it's anything to do
with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!
I had expected to get
an issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE out last week, but I have been
very busy upgrading and updating the website - take a look when you
get a chance. LISTINGS pages have been added for all areas covered
in the BREAKING NEWS section, where you can find information about
cabaret performances and events, as well as club address and reservation
phone numbers. I have been also adding, area by area, piano bar and
lounge listings for each area, including open-mic events. News keeps
pouring in here, and it am having a hard time keeping up with it all.
So, here is our first issue for the new year, and it is so long, I
deleted the cabaret reviews and will add them to the next issue instead.
Then, rather unexpectedly,
my DSL provider decided to go out of business, and I am in the process
of switching over to a new carrier. But this means had to get a new
modem - which was supposed to arrive by Friday - the date my old service
"expired," but according to the UPS tracking information, it won't
arrive until Monday, the 20th (providing they are making deliveries
on Martin Luther King day. Meantime, I am back to my low-speed telephone
modem to get on the web several times a day to gather and send e-mails.
This takes a lot of extra time, so I am heading over to STARBUCK'S
on Steinway Street here in Queens, to send out this issue using their
high-speed internet system.
Now for some news, and
other items.
I received the following
note from publicist Penny Landau:
"Just to let everyone
know, radio vet Stan Martin is in Lennox Hill Hospital following a
stroke a few weeks ago. He was in ICU Isolation following a bout with
pneumonia, but is better now, and is in a regular room and in stable
condition.
"Although he's not receiving
visitors or calls, I'm sure he would love to hear from all of you
in the cabaret community. If you want to drop a card, just to let
him know that he's in your prayers, the address is:
"Stan Martin - Room 2733
c/o Lennox Hill Hospital
100 East 77th Street
NYC, NY 10021"
I shall keep you all informed
of any additional information.
Special note to those
folks who had planned to run an ad in the February issue of CABARET
SCENES MAGAZINE, only to discover that, due to a financial reorganization,
they were skipping that issue: We have plenty of BANNER AD spaces
left on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website for the rest of January,
February and March. Note that we limit the ads to 20 banners per week,
so reserve your banner space as soon as possible.
And for those folks who
want to keep their name in front of folks while the MAC (Manhattan
Association of Cabarets & Clubs - http://www.macnyc.com/)
voters make their choices on the preliminary and final ballots, our
web pages are read from 20,000 to 30,000 times per day by cabaret
lovers all over the world. Your ad banner will appear at random on
nearly all 1800+ pages - in full color if you wish - with a link to
your website for no extra charge. Prices start at $40 per week, 2-week
minimum. Those running banners will get mentioned in every issue of
the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE e-mail newsletter as long as the banner
is running. We have nearly 2,500 subscribers - the most readers of
ANY cabaret-only publication (print or e-mail)!
For information on banner
ads, check out the banner information page on the CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/BannerHere.shtml),
or simply send me a note at banners@svhamstra.com
with the single word "Banner" in the subject line and I'll send all
the details. You can even pay for your banner by credit card via PayPal
- http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/PayPalPayment.shtml
and get a discount, if the total cost of the run is over $100. For
example, a 3-week ad, paid for by credit card, would cost less than
$35 per week! And a 4-week ad, by this method, would cost just $33.35
per week.
CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE
is totally dependant on Banner Advertising and Membership Donations
to keep providing you will all the news from the world of cabaret
each week. If you appreciate what we are doing, and would like to
see CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE not just continue, but also grow, please
consider becoming a member this week. For information on becoming

Please don't miss out
on another feature of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)
- the MESSAGE BOARD - where anyone, anywhere, can post information
about their shows, CDs or other cabaret-related event. You can also
post requests and questions about cabaret performance, and share your
thoughts and ideas of cabaret. You don't have to be a member of CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE, you don't have to fill out a form. All you need to
do is follow the rules - clearly posted on the board. I will remove
your message if I deem it inappropriate. Fully 70% of visitors to
the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)
visit the MESSAGE BOARD. Currently, the MESSAGE BOARD is sponsored
by Gregory Kennell Designer Productions, but up to now we have not
offered this opportunity to others. If you would like information
on sponsoring this MESSAGE BOARD section, where your banner would
be displayed exclusively, drop me a line. The costs, naturally, are
higher than for the regular banner ads, and you must contract for
a 2-month period (you can change your banner during the period, but
you are not permitted to "sub-contract" this space). The MESSAGE BOARD
sponsorship is available, starting on February 1, 2003.

How do you get an item
posted in the BREAKING NEWS section of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE
website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)?
Just e-mail me a press release of at least four paragraphs, giving
the complete information on your show, CD release or other cabaret
related event. Include photos in jpg or gif format if available. But
please send me complete information - and do not merely send a copy
of your flier. By the way, I usually trim quotes from reviews from
the press releases I receive before using the item on my website or
in the newsletter, so don't count them when putting together the four
or more paragraphs.
And that is just about
the way it was.
