CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE #030702 - MONDAY - Monday, July 7, 2003
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News

If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!

This is a MONDAY Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE which includes the regular "Major Rooms" and "Other Rooms" listings for around the world, and will also give information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/). The MID-WEEK issue, usually sent on Thursdays, will concentrate more on news, breaking stories and notes and mini-reviews of shows seen.

A big thank you to all who joined me at REGENTS (317 East 53rd Street, NYC - 212-593-3091 - http://www.RegentsClub.com) on my birthday, Sunday the 6th of July. A special thanks to manager Kelly Briggs for the birthday cake, and to Karen Mack and Michael Holland for the great little show. Karen & Michael will be performing the latest version of their award-winning GASHOLE series at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/) on Thursdays, July 24th & 31st at 7:00 pm - the show is titled "Gashole: Summer Wind." The brunch show was again "sold out" - this club has become the place to be - and be seen - on Sunday afternoons. The fabulous Gini Dustin is here next Sunday, the 13th, followed by the lovely Lucille Carr-Kaffashan on the 20th and the incredible Michael Vaccaro on the 27th. Brunch starts at 12:30 pm and showtime is 2:00 pm.

After the show, my friend Miguel and I went to MACY'S (they put on the great fireworks show on the 4th, so I figured I owed them a visit) to get me a few new festive summer shirts. My sister sends me a birthday check each year, and she knows that my wardrobe always needs a little perking up in July. Then, with temperatures in the 90s, I decided to head for home.

PIANO BAR TOUR POSTPONED

I had to postpone my annual birthday piano-bar tour, because of the heat. But, since uber-diva Karen Mason has decreed that I deserve a full month of birthday celebrating, I will fulfil my obligation next cool evening or two we get - no rule says I have to do it all in one night. I figure if I start out after a 9:00 pm show somewhere, I can cover about three piano bars before midnight. This way I can even visit some of the lesser-known nightspots. (Celeste, resend me your schedule, please.) Stay tuned.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MY FRIENDS IN THE BIG EASY

Harry Mayronne, producer of "The Black & White Blues" at LE CHAT NOIR (715 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA - 504-581-5812 - http://www.lechatnoir.citysearch.com/) let me know that the show is still running on Monday nights and will celebrate their first year's anniversary on Monday, July 28th. Written by Harry Mayronne & Ricky Graham, its the musical revue about New Orleans food, restaurants and celebrity chefs. And Harry has invited me to fly down to see this Anniversary Performance. It is still within the parameters of my birth month, and I hear that the place to really "party on" is New Orleans! Alert the paramedics.

ANOTHER NEW SECTION IN THE MONDAY NEWSLETTER

Since we will be issuing CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE MEMBERSHIP CARDS which can be used for show discounts where offered, any show (even if you don't run a banner) that offers at least a $5 discount (can be 2 for 1, or 1/2 price) to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members will be included in a special new section the MONDAY issue of the newsletter. The shows offering discounts may be grouped by venue to save space. Member Discount shows will also be listed on the special MEMBER DEALS page - sorted by city.

To be eligible, you must send me your flier and/or other promotional material showing the discount offer. I will use that information for the website and newsletter listing. Please confirm that you have sent me the material with an e-mail reminder so I can watch for it.

Another deal: If you place a banner ad on the website, and also offer a show discount to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members, you can take a 10% PayPal payment discount instead of the current 5% on your banner ad payment, if the total cost of your ad is over $100. This is in addition to any rebate or discount you might be entitled to.

Be sure you check with the venue where your show is being performed, to make sure that these discounts are permitted.

NEED TO PROMOTE YOUR SHOW THIS SUMMER?

If you are looking for the ideal place to promote your show, why not consider the premier cabaret-only publication in the world: CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE! Over 6,000 quality, cabaret-loving folks visit our website each day - and they look at on average of 6 or 7 pages each. Banner ads are displayed at random in two places on nearly all 2,500+ pages. This means your ad could be seen as many as 3,000 times each day, 21,000 times each week!

In addition, those running banners get mentioned every week in the MONDAY issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE e-mail newsletter (current circulation nearly 2,500) as long as the banner is running. With Cabaret Scenes Magazine doing another "double issue" for August & September, a lot of folks have contacted us looking for a place to advertise their summer shows.

You can run a banner for 2 weeks on CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE for just $80 - in full color - with a "live link" to your website, if applicable. That's before any member rebates or discounts.

Plenty of BANNER AD spaces on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website are currently available for the months of July and August. Keep in mind, I limit the ads to 20 banners per week, so if you plan to order a banner, reserve your banner space as soon as possible.

COMING NEXT ISSUE

We will be sending out the MID-WEEK issue in a few days which will include reports/reviews on shows seen, as well as more news items, more cabaret listings and a rundown of new BREAKING NEWS items added to the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) since the last mid-week issue. Stay tuned - we just passed the 2500-page mark on the website and keeps growing, and growing, and growing. We are very close to reaching 2,500 subscribers for the newsletter as well!

I have had a really busy weekend - right here in my cool apartment - updating my website with the new updated computer programs purchased with some of the funds sent by several very generous contributors to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. You may not notice the changes right away, but these powerful new programs will make by job just a bit easier, and the website more dynamic and powerful. I hope to get everything updated before the end of summer - with over 2,500 pages to "re-compile" it will be a busy few months. Please let me know if you find any "missing links" since just about every page is getting a new URL.

Also, don't forget to renew your CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE membership if you have a CD Sale page for the 2002-2003 membership year. These pages will totally expire at the end of July, so if you want to continue to offer your CD via the website, I need your renewal before July 31st. A simple $20 SILVER membership is all that is needed - you can upgrade your membership to a higher level any time you wish, or use your $20 towards a banner ad, so it is practically free!

I am going to close off now, catch a short nap, and then head into town to pick up my mail and catch Rick Jensen's new show at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) at 7:00 pm, and if the hot weather doesn't get to me, I'll hand around for Richard Skipper's "An Evening With Carol Channing" in the same room at 9:00 pm. Richard's guests are MariEileen O'Brien and Cydney Halpin.

And that is just about the way it was.

Hugs & Stuff,

STU
