CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE #030703 - MONDAY - Monday, July 14, 2003
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News
If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here
first!
This is a
MONDAY Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE which includes the regular
"Major Rooms" and "Other Rooms" listings for around the world, and
will also give information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/).
The MID-WEEK issue, usually sent on Thursdays, will concentrate more
on news, breaking stories and notes and mini-reviews of shows seen.
This will
be a busy week for your's truly - the renamed MACWORLD Expo is taking
place at the JAVITS CENTER here in NYC - it is now called MACWORLD
Creative Pro Expo, and for three days I will be roaming the convention
center looking for ideas and possibly adding to my software collection.
There may be a slight delay in sending the MID-WEEK issue - if I "stay
too long at the fair."
Meantime,
folks in the Hamptons will celebrate the Great American Popular Song
when the Mabel Mercer Foundation and Guild Hall join forces to produce
the Hamptons Cabaret Convention this week, on July 18th, 19th & 20th
at the JOHN DREW THEATER (East Hampton, NY - 631-324-4050). Twelve
different singers will take the stage at 8 o'clock on those evenings
to salute the music and lyrics that continue to enrich all our lives.
The Mabel Mercer Foundation Cabaret Convention is part of Guild Hall's
"American Originals Summer Season 2003." All tickets are available
exclusively at the John Drew box office. Prices range from $100 (prime
orchestra seating, plus garden reception with the artists) to $75
(box seats), $40 (remainder of the orchestra) and $25 (balcony). CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE will not be attending or reporting on this event. There
is a more complete story, with performance schedule, in the "Breaking
News" section of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/).

CABARET DISCOUNTS FOR HOTLINE
MEMBERS!
Our new cards
are still at the printer, but in a few days we will be mailing CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE MEMBERSHIP CARDS to all 2003-2004 Members, which can
be used for show discounts where offered. Any show that offers at
least a $5 discount (can be 2 for 1, or 1/2 price) to CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE members will now be included in a special new section the MONDAY
issue of the newsletter and are also listed on the special MEMBER
DEALS page in the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/MembersOnly.shtml).
To be eligible
for a listing in this section and on the website, you must send me
your flier and/or other promotional material showing the discount
offer. I will use that information for the website and newsletter
listing. Please confirm that you have sent me the material with an
e-mail reminder so I can watch for it. Be sure you check with the
venue where your show is being performed, to make sure that these
discounts are permitted.
Another deal:
If you place a banner ad on the website, and also offer a show discount
to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members, you can take a 10% PayPal payment
discount instead of the current 5% on your banner ad payment, if the
total cost of your ad is over $100. This is in addition to any rebate
or discount you might be entitled to.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PRESIDENT
JERRY FORD!
90 Years
Old today! That makes him even older than Irv Fischer!
NEED TO PROMOTE YOUR SHOW
THIS SUMMER?
If you are
looking for the ideal place to promote your show, why not consider
the premier cabaret-only publication in the world: CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE! Over 6,000 quality, cabaret-loving folks visit our website
each day - and they look at on average of 6 or 7 pages each. Banner
ads are displayed at random in two places on nearly all 2,500+ pages.
This means your ad could be seen as many as 3,000 times each day,
21,000 times each week! You can run a banner for 2 weeks on CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE for just $80 - in full color - with a "live link" to
your website, if applicable. That's before any member rebates or discounts.
In addition,
those running banners get mentioned every week in the MONDAY issue
of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE e-mail newsletter (current circulation nearly
2,500) as long as the banner is running. With Cabaret Scenes Magazine
doing another "double issue" for August & September, a lot of folks
have contacted us looking for a place to advertise their summer shows.
Plenty of
BANNER AD spaces on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website are currently
available for the rest of July and all of August. Keep in mind, I
limit the ads to 20 banners per week, so if you plan to order a banner,
reserve your banner space as soon as possible. For information on
banner ads, check out the banner information page on the CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/BannerHere.shtml),
or simply send me a note at banners@svhamstra.com
with the single word "Banner" in the subject line and I'll send all
the details.
A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS

a rundown of all the banner advertisers on the website - and these
items will be repeated as long as the banner is running. There is

COMING NEXT ISSUE
We will be
sending out the MID-WEEK issue in a few days which will include reports/reviews
on shows seen, as well as more news items, more cabaret listings and
a rundown of new BREAKING NEWS items added to the CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)
since the last mid-week issue. Stay tuned - we just passed the 2500-page
mark on the website and keeps growing, and growing, and growing. We
are very close to reaching 2,500 subscribers for the newsletter as
well!
I spent another
weekend updating my website with the new updated computer programs
purchased with some of the funds sent by several very generous contributors
to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. You may not notice the changes right away,
but these powerful new programs will make by job just a bit easier,
and the website more dynamic and powerful. I hope to get everything
updated before the end of summer - with over 2,500 pages to "re-compile"
it will be a busy few months. Please let me know if you find any "missing
links" since just about every page is getting a new URL.
Also, don't
forget to renew your CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE membership if you have
a CD Sale page for the 2002-2003 membership year. These pages will
totally expire at the end of July, so if you want to continue to offer
your CD via the website without interruption, I need your renewal
before July 31st. A simple $20 SILVER membership is all that is needed
- you can upgrade your membership to a higher level any time you wish,
or use your $20 towards a banner ad, so it is practically free!
I am going
to close off now, catch a short nap, and then head into town to pick
up my mail and catch a cabaret show or two - I don't know which and
where, since I was so busy working on the website, I forgot to call
in my reservations and now I have to wait until after 4:00 pm to see
who has room for me!
And that
is just about the way it was.
