CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE #030801 - MONDAY - Monday, August 4, 2003

Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News
If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!

This is a MONDAY Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE which includes the regular "Major Rooms" and "Other Rooms" listings for around the world, and will also give information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/). The MID-WEEK issue, usually sent on Thursdays, will concentrate more on news, breaking stories and notes and mini-reviews of shows seen.

This is also one of the longest issues ever. I have often had the impression that cabaret slows down in the summer, but if you take the time to peruse the listings in this issue, you will note that cabaret just keeps growing, and growing, and growing ....! In fact, I started on this issue yesterday afternoon - the subway system here in NYC was confusion over the weekend, and from where I live, the three subway routes that I could normally take were re-routed or not running at all. Consequently, I stayed home on Friday & Saturday, and only ventured into Manhattan for a short time last night to catch a show - and still had to take a cab home.

I have been trying to get caught up on all my work, without too much success - just about the time I think I have it all under control, a bunch of new things come in to distract me. For example, I finally got my unanswered e-mail list down to less than 16, and then the Thursday newsletter about my New Orleans trip creates about 60 new e-mails from readers with questions, comments, and some readers' personal stories of the "big easy." I have not had such a big response to an issue since CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE decided to "take on" TIME OUT NY several months ago.

My big regret is that my digital camera is no longer working, and so I have no photos of the trip to share. But I am setting aside funds from the membership drive to purchase a video camera that also takes "still" photos, and as soon as that happens, you will see a lot of new things happening on the website. I guess I'll just have to revisit New Orleans for a "rerun" when I get the camera. Perhaps next time I will travel by AMTRAK on the legendary "City of New Orleans" train. It starts in Chicago, and passes through Memphis on the way. Wouldn't that be fun!

BANNER SPACES AVAILABLE

Plenty of BANNER AD spaces on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website are currently available for the month of August, but we are getting a lot of orders for September & October. Keep in mind, I limit the ads to 20 banners per week, so if you plan to order a banner, reserve your banner space as soon as possible.

Banner ads are displayed at random in two places on nearly all 2,500+ pages. This means your ad could be seen as many as 3,000 times each day, 21,000 times each week! You can run a banner for 2 weeks on CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE for just $80 - in full color - with a "live link" to your website, if applicable. That's before any member rebates or discounts. In addition, those running banners get mentioned every week in the MONDAY issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE e-mail newsletter (current circulation nearly 2,500) as long as the banner is running.

For information on banner ads, check out the banner information page on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/BannerHere.shtml), or simply send me a note at banners@svhamstra.com with the single word "Banner" in the subject line and I'll send all the details.

A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS

COMING NEXT ISSUE

We will be sending out the MID-WEEK issue in a few days which will include reports/reviews on shows seen, as well as more news items, more cabaret listings and a rundown of new BREAKING NEWS items added to the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) since the last mid-week issue. Stay tuned - we just passed the 2500-page mark on the website and keeps growing, and growing, and growing. We are very close to reaching 2,500 subscribers for the newsletter as well!

I am going to close off this issue and make myself some lunch. Let me know what you think of the new layout for the MONDAY issue - placing the listings in geographical sections.

Thanks once more to all the folks who sent in their membership donations these past weeks. We are halfway towards out goal of 400 members for 2003-2004 - of course it would be great if we could reach an even higher number, but we have many more months to go before the next membership year.

Tonight I am off to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/) to catch Elna Baker's "A Mexican Mormon" show at 6:30 pm, then a quick cab trip to ACTORS' PLAYHOUSE THEATRE (100 Seventh Avenue South, NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200) to catch the last performance of Seth Rudetsky's "Rhapsody in Seth" show.

Tuesday, August 5th, brings the end of my "BirthMonth" and it flew by so fast, plus the weather has been so unusual (it is supposed to rain every day this week, for example), I never really got to celebrate as much as planned. I am going to appeal to Uber-Diva Karen Mason, who is the goddess of celebrations, for an extension.

And that is just about the way it was.

Hugs & Stuff,

STU
