CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE
#030901 - Tuesday, September 2, 2003
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News
If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here
first!
This is a MONDAY Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE (coming out on Tuesday
this week because of the Labor Day holiday here in the US) which includes
cabaret listings for around the world, and also includes information
on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website
(http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)
plus shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.
The MID-WEEK issue, usually sent on Thursdays, will concentrate more
on news, breaking stories and notes and mini-reviews of shows seen.
About yesterday - especially to all those who wrote in with suggestions
of things to see on Coney Island - well, Mother Nature decided that
I would be much happier staying home and watching part of the 14-hour
LAW & ORDER marathon on the TNT cable network, and provided about
14 hours of rain to convince me. And rain is on the forecast through
Thursday, but remaining cool! However, I still decided to take the
day off from writing - well at least a good part of the day. I did
go into town to meet a friend for dinner - but no shows (after all,
it was a day off for me).
IMPORTANT - ANDY GARCIA TRIBUTE POSTPONED
This note was received early Monday morning from John Hoglund, was
sent immediately to all on the NYC CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE BULLETIN
list:
"Due to some unexpected situations regarding family and the venue,
'And the Angels Sing!,' the tribute to Andy Garcia and benefit for
God's Love, We Deliver, scheduled for Saturday, Sept 6th at THE TRIAD
(158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590), has been postponed until
November. I apologize for any inconvenience and thank the many artists
who generously agreed to lend their talents. The rescheduled date
and artists will be announced in mid-October."
I will keep you informed as soon as a new date and/or venue is determined.
More information on Mr. Garcia can be found in the "Remembering?"
section of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/CabaretRemembers.shtml
).
If you would like to be a part of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE bulletin
e-mail list, please click on the line below and then hit send - the
subscription will be automatic. You will receive confirmation. The
bulletins will be short, and may include a link to a longer item on
the website.
LAST MEMBERSHIP CARDS ARE IN THE MAIL TO ALL MEMBERS
Well, not quite. I mailed out over 250 membership cards, but have
eight more to send - I have to check on a few addresses, plus two
cards to London and two cards to Australia which will be sent as soon
as I find out how much postage they need.
It was important that I get this all done by the end of August, because
some folks have already begun offering show discounts to CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE members. Folks offering CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE discounts get
a free listing in the Monday newsletter and on the MEMBER DEALS page
on my website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/MembersOnly.shtml).
To be eligible you must send me your flier and/or other promotional
material, press releases, etc., showing the discount offer. I will
use that information for the website and newsletter listing. Please
confirm that you have sent me the material with an e-mail reminder
so I can watch for it. Be sure you check with the venue where your
show is being performed, to make sure that these discounts are permitted.
By the way, if you place a banner ad on the website, and also offer
a show discount to CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members, you can take a
10% PayPal payment discount instead of the current 5% on your banner
ad payment, if the total cost of your ad is over $100. This is in
addition to any rebate or discount you might be entitled to.
I urge you to make the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE Member discount available
where permitted, wherever you perform - even if you are not yet a
member. Not only do you get a free listing here, and a listing on
the MEMBER DEALS page on the website, but the discount just might
mean and extra person or two in your audience, spreading the word
to others about your show.
This offer is not for the NYC area only. CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members
live all over the US (and Australia & England). And all the members
are passionate about cabaret, or else they wouldn't be members!
