CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE #030903 - Monday, September 8, 2003
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News

If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!

This is a MONDAY Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE which includes cabaret listings for around the world, and also includes information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) plus shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. The MID-WEEK issue, usually sent on Thursdays, will concentrate more on news, breaking stories and notes and mini-reviews of shows seen. Please note: we have returned to our original numbering system for these issues - the first 2 digits are the year, the second two are the month, and the third two designate the issue number for that month.

NEXT ISSUE IS FRIDAY INSTEAD OF THURSDAY

I like to keep these CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE e-mail issues sort of light-hearted and fun, and, while I have known myself for over 64 years, I really don't know exactly how light-hearted and fun I will feel on Thursday, September 11th, and so I will delay publication of the "mid-week" issue until Friday, the 12th. I agree with those who say that it is "time to move on" regarding the tragic events of September 11, 2001, but I also realize that it is difficult to put aside the memories of that day. The CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) will "go dark" for a few hours on Thursday morning, from 9:00 am until noon, in memory and respect for those who lost their lives that day. Personally, I will spend that time, "off the air" and "off the phone" in quiet reflection.

DISCOUNTS ARE REALLY ADVERTISING!

It isn't about discounts at all! Giving a special discount to your show to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE (or other membership organizations) is not meant to be a way for folks to save money, but a way to get the word out about your show. The very best advertising around is called "Word of Mouth," and the only way to purchase that type of advertising is to fill as many seats as possible - and to attract new folks to your show who might not otherwise attend. That's why they sell half-price tickets to Broadway shows, and that's why so many folks are discovering the wisdom of giving special discounts to their shows. The advantage of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE Membership discount is that CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE Members are internet-savvy, and can help spread that word-of-mouth information immediately to their other cabaret-attending friends. You don't have to join CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE to extend the discount - just add the line to your flier, your press release and other show announcements.

Remember, if you are serious about building an audience, you are much better off giving a discount to cabaret fans than giving a bunch of free comps to members of your family and friends at work, who never attend cabaret shows or know other folks who do. Instead of free seats, just offer them the same discount - and see how many are really supportive of your cabaret aspirations.

In this issue we list 10 shows currently offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE - totalling over $55. Just remember that to be listed in issues of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and on the website, the discount offered must be equal to or greater than any other discount offer you make available to other groups or organizations.

See http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/MembersOnly.shtml for the discounts being currently offered. For information of becoming a member of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE to take advantage of these discounts, see http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/Membership.shtml
