CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE #030907 - Monday, September 22, 2003
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News
If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here
first!
This is a MONDAY Issue
of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE which includes cabaret listings for around
the world, and also includes information on all the banner ads running
on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)
plus shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.
The MID-WEEK issue, usually sent on Thursdays, will concentrate more
on news, breaking stories and notes and mini-reviews of shows seen.
In an effort to keep these issues short, I am deleting (for this issue
only) venues for which I have no information at publication time,
while I reorganize the "template" I use when preparing the Monday
CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.
THE BIG STORM THAT NEVER
CAME TO THE BIG APPLE
My thoughts and prayers
go out to those whose lives were interrupted and property devastated
by the hurricane Isabel that roared into the North Carolina coast
last week Thursday. Fortunately, we here in the New York City area
were spared the brunt of the storm, but that didn't mean we all went
about "business as usual." We live in an era if instant news updates,
which at times has us believing the hype (it keeps those ratings up)
rather than the actual. Thus, the city was quiet and empty on Thursday
night and many cabaret (and other live entertainment) shows suffered
from loss of business. Several performers wrote me to tell of last-minute
cancellations, and even worse, score of "no shows."
As for Isabel's visit to NYC? All was calm until about 3:00 am - and
then there was light rain for an hour or so, at least here in Astoria,
Queens. I was out and about until 2:00 am (a friend was leaving for
San Francisco on Friday, and we were having a "farewell" party), and
hardly felt a breeze, never felt a drop of rain, all night. Oh, the
San Francisco flight was delayed several hours because even the airlines
believed the hype and kept the plane grounded elsewhere until Isabel
blew over.

Did you count 22? Yes,
for a few days, 22 banners are running, but that is because I run
the banners a few days extra for no extra charge if the final show
of the advertiser's run is early in the week. But after Wednesday
there will be just 20 banners - our limit.
PLANNING ON RUNNING A
BANNER? BETTER PLACE YOUR ORDER TODAY!
BANNER AD spaces on the
CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website are sold out for September, and almost
completely sold out FOR October - especially around the time of the
October Cabaret Convention here in NYC. Keep in mind, I limit the
ads to 20 banners per week. Banner ads are displayed at random in
two places on nearly all 2,500+ pages. This means your ad could be
seen as many as 3,000 times each day, 21,000 times each week! You
can run a banner for 2 weeks on CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE for just $80
- in full color - with a "live link" to your website, if applicable.
That's before any member rebates or discounts. In addition, those
running banners get mentioned every week in the MONDAY issue of CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE e-mail newsletter (current circulation nearly 2,500)
as long as the banner is running.
For information on banner ads, check out the banner information page
on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/BannerHere.shtml),
or simply send me a note at banners@svhamstra.com
with the single word "Banner" in the subject line and I'll send all
the details.

COMING NEXT ISSUE
We will be sending out
the MID-WEEK issue in a few days which will include reports/reviews
on shows seen, as well as more news items, more cabaret listings and
a rundown of new BREAKING NEWS items added to the CABARET HOTLINE
ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/)
since the last mid-week issue.
Time to send this off.
I realize it is a bit early, but I have a lot of work to do adding
new members listings to the website, sending out a bunch of new membership
cards, and answering a bunch of e-mail that came in over the weekend.
Anyway, I can't fit anything more into this issue because of space
constraints by AOL - used by about half of my subscribers. I may make
a major change in how the issues are set up, and moving the MEMBERSHIP
DISCOUNT show list to the mid-week issue, leaving more room in the
Monday issue for the banner advertiser listings and the regular club
listings.

at 9:30 for the equally fantastic Michael Vaccaro show at 9:30 pm.
I'll be back at MAMA ROSE'S on Thursday night at 9:30 pm for a very

would be great if we could reach an even higher number, but we have
many more months to go before the next membership year.
And that is just about the way it was.
