GOLDEN GIRLS LIVE SHOWS CANCELLED

The NYC cabaret community, and especially the folks at UPSTAIRS AT ROSE'S TURN (55 Grove Street, NYC - 1-212-366-5438 - http://www.rosesturn.com/) and DILLON'S (245 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-307-9797), was thrown for a loop this week when the sold-out hit show "Golden Girls, LIVE!" was slapped with a "cease & desist" order by the creators of the TV show, cancelling the rest of the scheduled run at ROSE'S TURN through the February and the planned 2-year run at DILLON'S starting in mid-February. The producers thought all was OK, since they had the blessing of the LIFETIME cable network, which owns the rights to the series, but the neglected to secure the rights to the intellectual property itself. Folks looking for a room to book their act in December and beyond should contact the booking managers of these two rooms. They have a lot of slots available!

"LISTEN TO MY HEART" GETS EXTENSION

"LISTEN TO MY HEART: The Songs of David Friedman" now playing UPSTAIRS AT STUDIO 54 (254 West 54th Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200 - http://www.telecharge.com/) was to close on Sunday, November 16th, but at the last minute, thanks to a surge in ticket sales and some new funding, will continue for at least another week or two. Hopefully this will give their new marketing plan to take hold and ticket sales will continue to increase - extending the show even longer. The brilliant cast includes Allison Briner, Joe Cassidy, David Friedman, Michael Hunsaker, Alix Korey, Anne Runolfsson and the show is directed by Mark Waldrop. There are still Special $25 discount tickets available - Call Tele-Charge at 212 -239-6200 and use code LHDFEM9 - check the website at http://www.ListenToMyHeartSite.com/ for details. Here's your chance to see a brilliant show featuring songs that cabaret-lovers have come to love and enjoy, and encourage the backers to keep the show going.

DO YOU HAVE A HOLIDAY-THEMED CD?

Once again CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE is listing holiday-themed CDs on a special page of the website for those looking for that special "stocking-stuffer" or the perfect CD to have on hand for those holiday events that need music in the background. If you have a holiday-themed CD (commercially produced & available), let me know - with a link to your website or the web address where it can be purchased. And of your holiday CD is already listed please check if the link is still correct and working. You need not be a member of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE to be listed on this page - but your support would be appreciated.

DO YOU HAVE A HOLIDAY-THEMED CABARET SHOW?

I will also be adding a special section to the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) listing holiday-themed shows around the country, and will include these show listings in the newsletter after Thanksgiving (November 27th). Send in your listing - but please include complete information and do not simply send me a copy of your flier or show card.

OFFERING A DISCOUNT? PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Every day I get another note from a performer who has decided to offer a special show discount to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. I have trouble keeping the MEMBER DEALS page on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) up to date. I am hopeful that more performers will offer these discounts outside the NYC area (where permitted) so that the members in other parts of the world can take advantage of this special membership benefit. Remember, unless your show is sold-out far in advance, giving a discount to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE does not cost you anything - and you don't only sell that empty seat, you may gain a new fan, who will come to your future shows! Plus, your show will get a mention in the MID-WEEK issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and a listing on the MEMBER DEALS page. If your are offering a discount for your show to members, and your show isn't listed yet on the MEMBER DEALS page, let me know as soon as possible.

I'M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE NEWS

I get plenty of show listings sent me - far more than I can possibly use - it is really difficult trying to choose which ones to run, which ones to set aside. Sometimes the item itself makes this choice - incomplete information or just a scan of a flier, neither of which is useful to me. I would love to have more items from outside NYC, especially NEWS items - new venues opening, benefits, CD Releases, celebrations, new pianos, etc. Add a website link if available. I have news ready to print about two new cabaret venues - already in operation - but one contains no reservation phone number or cover information, and the other did not include the exact street address.

A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS

REMEMBER: Each weekly issue of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE newsletter includes a rundown of all the banner advertisers on the website - and these items will be repeated as long as the banner is running. There is a more complete article on nearly all these items in the BREAKING NEWS section of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/).
