ACCLAIMED VOCALIST COURTENAY DAY TO PRESENT NEW SHOW AT ARCI'S PLACE

TO PRESENT SUNDAY BRUNCH SHOWS IN OCTOBER

Critically acclaimed cabaret chanteuse COURTENAY DAY will present her new show, "When October Goes ..." as a special series of Cabaret Sunday Brunch performances at ARCI'S PLACE (450 Park Avenue South, NYC - 212-532-4370 - http://www.arcisplace.com/). Featuring musical direction by Christopher Marlowe and direction by Scott Barnes, the first performance is on Sunday, October 7th at 3:00 pm (with a 1:00 pm brunch), and continues on Sundays, October 14th, 21st, and 28th at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $25 (cash only, plus a $15 food or drink minimum).

"When October Goes ..." features everything from beloved standards and musical theatre fare to songs from the movies. Among the many highlights: a medley of all the songs by Irving Berlin originally written for the movies of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers; the Schwartz/Gershwin rarity "Don't Be A Woman If You Can"; several songs by Stephen Sondheim; and of course the title tune, with a lyric by Johnny Mercer and music later written by Barry Manilow.

According to Ms. Day, "I've always felt it's important to try and attract new audiences to cabaret. This is why it's so exciting to be premiering my newest show during a time slot when cabaret performances traditionally don't take place. People that don't normally avail themselves of cabaret at night will have an opportunity to come during the day, see a show and enjoy a tasty brunch in the bargain."

Courtenay Day was the very first singer to appear at THE CABARET at Odette's (South River Road, New Hope, PA - 215-862-3000 - http://www.odettes.com/). Since then, she's become an established presence at Odette's where she performs at least three times a year, frequently selling out her performances. In addition, Ms. Day has performed at such venues as NYC's Don't Tell Mama and Philadelphia's Tavern on Camac. A lifelong dancer whose credentials include a BA in Dance and training at NYC's prestigious American Ballet Theater, Ms. Day divides her time between her ever-expanding cabaret career and her dance company in Pennsylvania. Her first CD, "Live At Don't Tell Mama," was released in 1999 to rave reviews. Courtenay recorded her second CD this summer, and is planning to release it later this year.
