Downstairs Cabaret Theatre Announces a
Limited Engagement of THE FANTASTICKS !


DOWNSTAIRS CABARET THEATRE (20 Windsor Street, Rochester, NY - 716-325-4370 - http://www.downstairscabaret.com/) is pleased to announce a limited engagement of the longest running off-Broadway musical of all time, THE FANTASTICKS by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. Performance times vary as the show is in rotation with other productions.

The FANTASTICKS is the charming story of Matt and Louisa who grow up separated by a wall their feuding fathers have built to keep them apart. Naturally, it makes them fall wildly in love with each other. Once they discover their fathers actually planned the whole thing to get them together, their romance suffers a series of whimsical developments; but, in the end as the lovers mature, love conquers all. This popular musical features favorite songs including "Try To Remember," "Much More," "Soon ItÍs Gonna Rain," "I Can See It," and "Plant a Radish."

Downstairs Cabaret TheatreÍs cast features Stephen Valahovic as "El Gallo" (most recently playing the role of "Jekyll/Hyde" in the national tour of "Jekyll & Hyde"), Timothy Paul Evanicki as "Matt" (most recently playing "Sparky" in last yearÍs Downstairs Cabaret production of "Forever Plaid"), Brynn Lucas (also recently completing the national tour of "Jekyll & Hyde"), and local acting veterans Donald Tirabassi as "Hucklebee", Cory Clines as "Bellomy", Ed Scutt as "Henry," Mark Scott Almekinder as "Mortimer", and Arron McGill as "The Mute." Broadway actor Will Stutts directs, and Carol Brown musical directs.

Ticket prices for THE FANTASTICKS are $21-24 general admission, $18-21 seniors (age 60 and above) and groups (10 or more people), and $10.50-12 full-time students. Additional discounts are available for current Downstairs Cabaret Theatre members. Tables are reserved for parties of five or more and donors of $100 or more. Desserts and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are available prior to the performance and during intermission. Free parking is available across the street at the East End Garage.

The Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is a not-for-profit (501-c-3) professional theatre.

THE FANTASTICKS Performance Schedule:

Preview Performances: Sunday, August 5th at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, August 7th at 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 11th at 5:00 pm.

Opening: Sunday, August 12th at 3:00 pm

Continuing: Mondays: August 13th, 20th, & 27th at 7:30 pm; Saturday, August 18th at 5:00 pm; Sundays: August 19th & 26th at 3:00 pm; Tuesdays: August 21st & 28th at 7:30 pm; Thursday, August 23rd at 7:30 pm; Friday, August 24th at 8:00 pm.

Meantime, after 60 sold out performances of I LOVE YOU, YOUÍRE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is has announced another extension of the hit musical comedy through September 1, 2001. Performance times vary as the show is in rotation with other productions. Call for show dates and times.

Downstairs Cabaret Theatre has also announced an extension of its performances of LULLABY OF BROADWAY, the original musical revue featuring the cast of "I Love You, YouÍre Perfect, Now Change" performing favorites from shows currently running on Broadway including: AIDA, CABARET, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, KISS ME KATE, RENT, SEUSSICAL, CHICAGO, BELLS ARE RINGING, THE MUSIC MAN, THE LION KING, 42nd STREET, and more. The revue is created, directed, and choreographed by Jay Falzone, and features Kristina Passier, Ali Spuck, Billy Taylor, and Rob Weston. The cast is accompanied by pianist Nathan Perry and drummer Jill Pritchard. Call for show dates and times.
