Eric
Michael Gillett, from Broadway's "Kiss Me, Kate" and the upcoming
"Sweet Smell of Success" will make his ARCI'S PLACE debut in a show
entitled "Broadway-Off & On, Here & Now" at ARCI'S PLACE (450 Park
Avenue South, NYC - 212-532-4370 - http://www.arcisplace.com/).
The show will play Mondays in August at 8:00 pm (August 6th, 13th,
20th and 27th). The show will take a fond look at the most recent
musical theater season, off and on Broadway. Jay Rogers directs the
show and Dick Gallagher serves as Musical Director. Tickets to the
show are $25, with a $15 food/drink minimum. Reservations are strongly
suggested.
Eric Michael Gillett made
his Broadway debut in the revival of Cole Porter's "Kiss Me, Kate."
Other recent credits include Manhattan Theatre Club's "Time and Again,"
and the workshop of the new Marvin Hamlisch/Craig Carnelia musical
"Sweet Smell of Success," in which he will also appear when it opens
on Broadway in the Spring of 2002. Best known for his eleven-year
run as Singing Ringmaster of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus,
Eric provided the voice-over narration for the popular Ringling Bros.
Video Program series, has appeared on countless television and radio
programs including "Law & Order," the A & E documentary "Two Hundred
Years of Circus in America," the CBS television special "The Return
of Gunther Gebel-Williams" (Host/Narrator), and was featured on Disney's
multi-million selling Sing-A-Long video "Let's Go To The Circus."
A native of Los Angeles,
Eric began his career in musical comedy ("Promises, Promises," "Anything
Goes," "Damn Yankees") before moving to Las Vegas where he appeared
opposite Charo, Debbie Reynolds, Suzanne Somers, and Juliet Prowse
as leading man in "Bal du Moulin Rouge." Since making his New York
City cabaret debut, Eric has been honored with a 1992 BACK STAGE magazine
Bistro Award and the 1995 MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets &
Clubs) Award for Outstanding Male Vocalist. His solo albums "Sing
a Rainbow" and "Cast of Thousands Æ The Songs of Craig Carnelia" (named
the #1 Cabaret CD of 1998 by IN THEATER Magazine) are available nationally.
Regionally, Eric has starred
in productions of "La Cage aux Folles," the Kopit/Yeston version of
"Phantom," and in "Starting Here, Starting Now." Directing credits
include the acclaimed Town Hall concerts "Broadway Musicals of 1943,"
featuring Heather Mac Rae, Sally Mayes, and Jason Graae; and "Broadway
Musicals of 1957" with Adriane Lenox and Alix Korey, both written
and produced by Scott Siegel. He was most recently represented as
director on the cabaret scene by Aaron Lee Battle's "Step Right Up"
and Ron Ramsay's "Go With Me." His newest solo show is entitled "Broadway
- Off & On, Here & Now," which takes a fond look at the most recent
musical theater season off and on Broadway.
