Wilson Room
Making Its Official
Debut With Julie Wilson on September 5th
NEW
YORK - Owners Denis Carey and Van Pano of RED BLAZER & THE HIDEAWAY
RESTAURANT (32 West 37th Street, NYC - 212-947-8940 - http://www.thehideawayny.com/)
have decided to change their restaurant and entertainment from big
band and jazz to elegant cabaret as of September, 2001. In September,
it will also change its name to THE HIDEAWAY CABARET AND SUPPER CLUB
and its main performance room to "The Julie Wilson Room" to honor
the Broadway and Cabaret legend.
The room is upstairs of
the club. The Julie Wilson Room will be booking 'names' and well-known
talented area performers beginning in September, 2001. The room will
officially open and be christened "The Julie Wilson Room" following
a gala media event on Wednesday, September 5, 2001. The ceremony will
be followed by a special performance by Ms. Wilson. The reception
begins promptly at 7:00 pm with the performance slated to begin at
8:00 pm.
Julie will continue to
headline in her own room on September 6th, 7th and 8th at 9:00 pm
with celebrity guest stars such as singer-songwriter Dave Frishberg,
Barbara Carroll, Mark Murphy, Margaret Whiting, KT Sullivan, each
evening hosted by a celebrity. These performances will be dedicated
to the memory of the late cabaret and jazz singer Susannah McCorkle
and will be a fundraiser for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
THE JULIE WILSON ROOM
2001 SEASON
LAINIE KAZAN - On
Thursday and Friday, September 13th and 14th, Broadway and television
great Lainie Kazan performs with her trio. She will appear on Thursday
at 9:00 pm and Friday at both 9:00 and 11:00 pm.
TOM WOPAT - Direct
from the Broadway show, "Annie Get Your Gun," Tom Wopat (TV's Dukes
of Hazard") celebrates the release of his newest CD, "The Still of
the Night" (Angel Records) with a performance at 11:00 pm on Saturday,
September 15th. He will continue his run on Mondays, September 24th
and October 8th and 15th at 9:00 pm.
KT SULLIVAN & LARRY
WOODARD - Fresh from her long run of her hit Gershwin show, KT
Sullivan teams up with veteran pianist/singer/composer Larry Woodard
in their new Harold Arlen show on September 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd,
27th and 28th. Thursday shows are at 9:00 pm and Friday and Saturday
at 9:00 and 11:00 pm.
MARK NADLER - In
addition to his legendary shows at Sardi's and co-starring with KT
Sullivan at the Triad Cabaret Theater, Mark appeared on Broadway with
Dame Edna in her recent Broadway show. Mark will be doing a special
one-man-show in "The Julie Wilson Room" on Saturday, September 29th
at 9:00 pm.
WESLA WHITFIELD
- Jazz and cabaret star Wesla Whitfield will be appearing in her new
show in "The Julie Wilson Room" on October 4th, 5th, 6th and 11th,
12th and 13th.
AMANDA McBROOM & JOEL
SILBERMAN - Broadway and television's will be appearing Amanda
McBroom for three weeks with shows on October 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th,
26th, 27th, and November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
MARK MURPHY & The Mark
Murphy Trio - Seven-Time Grammy nominee and Jazz legend Mark Murphy
will perform songs from his latest and 41st album "Links" (High Note)
on November 8th, 9th, and 10th.
PETER HOWARD'S BROADWAY
REVUE WITH LEROY REAMS -This Broadway revue from composer/arranger
Peter Howard, will star Lee Roy Reams and an all-star cast. The new
show plays November 15th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th,
30th and December 1st.
NEW YEARS EVE with JULIE
WILSON - The cabaret legend will appear in her own room for New
Year's Eve with two sittings, at 7:30 and at 9:30 pm. Dancing all
night long.
