"LA PASSION de PIAF" AT ODETTE'S NINTH BASTILLE DAY IN NEW HOPE FOR CHANTEUSE ELIZABETH HODES

This year marks Elizabeth Hodes' ninth Bastille Day in a row at THE CABARET at Odette's (South River Road, New Hope, PA - 215-862-3000 - http://www.odettes.com/), where she'll perform her cabaret, "La Passion de Piaf," on Bastille Day, July 14th, and again on Sunday, the 15th. Performances are Saturday, July 14, at 8 pm, and Sunday, July 15th at 7:30 pm.

"Edith Piaf is like super glue," says singer, Elizabeth Hodes. "I first heard her voice in Paris and she has never let go!"

"Piaf's magic reached everywhere," says the singer. "French street people adored her and so did Jean Cocteau, even though he called her a 'sacred monster.' She was pals with Marlene Dietrich, who often sang her theme song, "La Vie En Rose." And the Jewish songwriter, Michel Emer, gave her "L'Accordeoniste" the' day before he escaped from Paris ahead of the Nazis.

Hodes' program will include these and other favorites including "Hymn A L'Amour," "Milord," "L'Homme A La Moto," "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien," and this year, "A Quoi Ca Sert L'Amour," which Piaf sang with Theo Sarapo, her last husband. Hodes will sing it with her husband, Stuart, who learned it as a present for her when they were in Paris on their 30th wedding anniversary.
