The
Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs announces the presenters
and performers scheduled to appear at the 2001 MAC Awards on Sunday,
April 1st at Town Hall.
Leading
the list of performers are singing legend Rosemary Clooney
(recipient of this year's "Lifetime Achievement" Award) and musical
director/arranger/producer John McDaniel (receiving one of
this year's two "Board of Directors" Awards).
In a special
musical tribute, Michael Feinstein and Ms. Clooney's twelve-piece
jazz band The Big Kahuna and The Copa Cat Pack, will perform
some Rosemary Clooney standards. Also scheduled to present or perform
are Cy Coleman, Michelle Lee, Margaret Whiting, Julie Wilson, Julie
Budd, Mario Cantone, Sam Harris, Carol Woods, Susannah McCorkle, Angela
LaGreca, Mary Cleere Haran with Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Eileen
Fulton, Eric Comstock, Lorna Dallas, Baby Jane Dexter, David Friedman,
Julie Gold, Erv Raible, Jack Donahue, Barry Kleinbort, Gary Giddins,
Roy Sander, Leslie Anderson, Maria Gentile, Jenifer Kruskamp, Johanna
Pinzler, Terri White, The Bobby Peaco Trio and this year's Mistress
of Ceremonies, Julie Halston.
The MAC Awards
(The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) are presented annually
to honor achievements in cabaret, comedy and jazz. The Awards encompass
more than two dozen categories, including vocalists and vocal groups,
piano bar and jazz performers, comedy and musical performers, writers
of songs and special material, directors, musical directors and technical
directors, recordings, will be distributed at the event. In addition
to these awards, three special honors will be presented at this year's
event. A "Lifetime Achievement Award" will be given to Rosemary Clooney.
Two "Board of Directors" Awards will be presented to John McDaniel
and Rosie O'Donnell respectively for their enthusiastic support
of the cabaret community.
The 15th Annual
MAC Awards will take place on Sunday, April 1st at Town Hall (123
West 43rd Street) at 7:30 PM. This years event is produced by Nancy
McGraw and directed by Tony Award¬-winner Thommie Walsh. Tickets,
ranging from $25 - $125, can be purchased after March 5th through
TicketMaster at (212) 307-4100 or at the Town Hall box office.
