Richard Malavet returns to the cabaret stage with his new show, "The Right to Love," at JUDY'S CHELSEA (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-929-5410 (http://www.judyschelsea.com/) for two shows only, on Tuesdays, November 6th & 13th, both shows at 8:30 pm.

Mr. Malavet's JUDY'S CHELSEA debut will feature an eclectic and exciting collection of songs by legendary songwriters/composers Sammy Cahn/Jule Styne, Betty Comden & Adolph Green/Leonard Bernstein, Oscar Hammerstein II/Jerome Kern, as well as songs by contemporary singers/songwriters Elton John and Carole King. Also featured are new songs by songwriter Ben Moore and composer Richard Pearson Thomas, including the debut of a new song composed by New York composer/lyricist Charles Bloom. John Znidarsic directs, and the musical director, also on piano, is award-winning pianist and arranger, Ross Patterson. Richard will also be backed by a trio.

Richard Malavet is actually coming back full circle to JUDY'S CHELSEA at its beautiful new location, after a brief hiatus from the cabaret stage singing with bands and learning about "The Right to Love." Mr. Malavet made his cabaret debut at the original JUDYS* in midtown. He was actually discovered singing at the piano bar by Richard Hendrickson, one of the owners of JUDYS*, who personally invited him to debut his act there. Other New York City club appearances followed, including shows at DON'T TELL MAMA and EIGHTY EIGHT'S. Richard is also a Fellow of the O'Neill Cabaret Symposium, working with master teachers that included Karen Akers, Margaret Whiting and Julie Wilson.

An actor as well as singer, Richard Malavet is a Manhattan native. He was a member of the AMERICAN LINE THEATRE COMPANY as both an actor and sound designer, and made his New York theatrical debut with the famed PUBLIC THEATER in the Latino Theater Festival. Other theater venues include THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY, WESTBANK THEATER and THE NATIONAL BLACK THEATER.
