Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095 - http://www.feinsteinsattheregency.com/)
will present songwriting legends Paul Williams and Jimmy Webb, with
special guest LIZ CALLAWAY, performing such hits as "MacArthur Park,"
"Evergreen," "We've Only Just Begun" and "Didn't We." The show runs
from November 7th through 24th.
Jimmy
Webb, critically acclaimed composer, is the only artist ever to receive
Grammy Awards for music, lyrics and orchestrations. His songs "Up,
Up and Away" "Wichita Lineman" and "By the Time I Get to Phoenix"
are among the most performed songs of the last thirty years. The National
Academy of Songwriters named him the 1993 recipient of their Lifetime
Achievement Award. His songs have been recorded by everyone from Glen
Campbell, Richard Harris, The Fifth Dimension and Tony Bennett to
Urge Overkill and R.E.M.
Paul
Williams has been lauded not only as a gifted and prolific songwriter,
but also as a singer and actor, with a shelf full of Grammy Awards,
Golden Globes and an Academy Award. His hits include "The Rainbow
Connection," "Evergreen," "We've Only Just Begun," "Rainy Days & Mondays"
and "I Won't Last A Day Without You." His songs have been recorded
by Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Elvis
Presley, Gladys Knight, Ella Fitzgerald, The Carpenters and more.
He appeared in "The Muppet Movie," "The Doors" and three "Smokey and
the Bandits" films. He wrote music for the films "Rocky IV," "The
Secret of Nimh," "The Muppet Christmas Carol" and "Ishtar."
Liz
Callaway made her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We
Roll Along." For her performance in "Baby," she earned a Tony Award
Nomination. She also appeared on Broadway in the musicals "The Three
Musketeers," "Miss Saigon" (originating the role of Ellen) and as
Grizabella in "Cats." Other New York appearances include the acclaimed
"Follies in Concert" at Lincoln Center, "Marry Me A Little" and the
Encores! Series production of "Fiorello!" She also received an Emmy
Award for hosting "Ready to Go," a daily, live childrens program on
CBS. She recently released her third solo CD, "The Beat Goes On,"
featuring music from the 60s.
FEINSTEIN'S AT THE REGENCY
will play the following schedule: Tuesday through Saturday at 8:30
pm with a late show on Friday and Saturday at 11:00 pm. There Songwriting
