TONY WINNER KAREN ZIEMBA HOSTS 'BOUND FOR BROADWAY' JUNE 18th AT MERKIN HALL CELEBRATING NEW MUSICAL THEATRE SONGWRITERS


TONY AWARD winner Karen Ziemba, currently starring in CONTACT at Lincoln Center, will host "Bound for Broadway," the final concert of the "Broadway Close Up" series at MERKIN HALL (129 West 67th Street, NYC), on Monday, June 18th at 8:00 pm.

Presented by the Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center in association with BMI, the series salutes the rising stars of today's musical theatre. The concert features many Broadway performers including Mary Stout (JANE EYRE), Michael Winther (1776) and Donna Lynne Champlin (3HREE) singing songs from 13 new Broadway-bound musicals by such up-coming songwriters as Robert Lindsey Nassif ("3hree") and Kirstin Childs ("The Bubbly Black Girl..."). In addition to her hosting duties, Ms. Ziemba will perform a new song "Table Three" from "Live Girl" by Dan Martin and Michael Biello.

Ms. Ziemba, who recently hosted the TDF Astaire Awards, received the TONY, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance in CONTACT. The Susan Stroman/John Weidman musical marks Ms. Ziemba's 7th Broadway show. Her other Broadway appearances include the original production of 42ND STREET (as Peggy Sawyer opposite Jerry Orbach,) TEDDY AND ALICE, CRAZY FOR YOU, STEEL PIER and CHICAGO. She also received the Drama Desk Award for AND THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND. She has a featured role in Alec Baldwin's new film "The Devil and Daniel Webster" with Anthony Hopkins.
