Will McMillan sings Irving Berlin with Henry Schniewind on piano and special guest Bobbi Carrey

"God Bless America," one of Irving Berlin's most popular songs, has been performed of late with renewed passion in benefits, homes, and clubs around the country. How did an outsider - Israel Beilin, a Jewish immigrant from Russia-end up writing some of America's most loved songs, such as White Christmas and Easter Parade?

In a concert/lecture at CAMBRIDGE CENTER FOR ADULT EDUCATION (56 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-547-6789 - Ext. 1 - http://www.ccae.org/) on Thursday, March 7th at 10:30 am, cabaret artist Will McMillan, along with guest singer Bobbi Carrey, will perform songs by-and tell stories about-Irving Berlin. Admission is just $2 - $1 for seniors.

Having escaped from corporate America, Bobbi Carrey founded NOWANDTHEN PRODUCTIONS - cabaret performances combining social history with popular American song. Ms. Carrey has performed at Cabaretfest in Newburyport, MA, Playwright's Platform at Mass College of Art, Cambridge Public Library, Brookline Center for Adult Education, Tufts University and is expecting to release her first CD, "Between the Wars," in fall 2002. In addition to her corporate stint at Fidelity, Bobbi has also been a professional photographer and filmmaker, antique dealer, tap dancer and Weight Watcher leader.

Will McMillan is Director of Public Relations at CCAE and also oversees their Cabaret Connection, which offers performances, workshops, and open mikes. Last year he produced a sold out series of concerts, Will & Company, to showcase local singers and composers. In 1999 Mr. McMillan was one of thirty seven performers chosen nationally to be a Fellow at the O'Neill Theater Center's 10th Cabaret Symposium. His debut solo show at Scullers in February 2000 sold out in advance, as did his collaboration with Nina Vansuch, Brian Patton and Michael Ricca: a cabaret review called At the Movies. The Cambridge Center for Adult Education is a community-based educational institution that provides accessible education to all members of the community. Their goal is to create an inclusive environment for educational and cultural exchange that encourages diverse participation.

They firmly believe that 'true' diversity takes place in a classroom, art studio or public forum where students and faculty of various racial, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, and economic backgrounds share in the process of learning, teaching and creating.
