CAMPBELL PERFORMS AT CAFE CARLYLE FEBRUARY 26 - MARCH 23

AUSTRALIAN SINGER'S
FIRST N.Y. APPEARANCE TWO YEARS
The
young Australian singer David Campbell, who burst onto the NY scene
in 1997, returns to New York for the first time in two years for an
exclusive four-week engagement, Tuesday, February 26th through Saturday,
March 23rd, at the prestigious THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street,
NYC - 212-744-1600 - http://www.thecarlyle.com/cal.cfm).
His new show, BACK FROM OZ, will have performances Tuesdays through
Saturdays at 8:45 pm with late shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
at 10:45 pm. There is a $75.00 cover charge, no minimum. Dinner is
served from 6:30 pm.
Known for his eclectic
musical taste, David (along with his musical director Christopher
Denny) has chosen a diverse program for this return to the New York
stage. He will pay musical tribute to two of his idols: Bobby Darin
and Sammy Davis, Jr. Theatre songs, including one from his recent
Australian smash hit SHOUT!, will be represented as well as some Australian
pop hits and songs by such composers as Carol Hall, John Bucchino
and Michael Pemberton. There will also be several songs closely associated
with David so as not to disappoint his diehard fans.
David Campbell, who was
born in Adelaide in 1973, began working professionally in 1993. His
multi-faceted career has brought him to the theatrical stage in New
York ("Saturday Night" and "Babes in Arms"), London ("Hey Mr. Producer!
The Musical World of Cameron Mackintosh") and Australia ("Shout!,"
"Les Miserables," "Guys & Dolls," and "Only Heaven Knows," among others).
He has performed in concert at such venues as the Sydney Opera House
(with Barbara Cook) and at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops. He
has also headlined numerous cabaret venues in the United States and
Australia including New York's Joe's Pub and the prestigious Rainbow
& Stars. David can be heard singing the title role in the DreamWorks
animated film "Joseph ... King of Dreams."
His recording credits
include: "Yesterday is Now," "Taking the Wheel," "Grateful ... the
Songs of John Bucchino," "Hey Mr. Producer!," "Number One Musicals,"
"Banana Lounge," Andrew Denton's "Musical Challenge 2," and cast recordings
of "Saturday Night," "Babes in Arms," "Only Heaven Knows," "A Kid
Inside," and "Shout!"
Mr. Campbell has amassed
an impressive list of awards. He has received a New York Back Stage
Bistro Award, 2 MO Awards (Australia's equivalent to the Tony Award),
and a MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award.
