Award-Winning Artist Jennifer Chada Returns to Davenport's in "Once Upon a Mid Lifetime"

After Dark Award-winning cabaret artist Jennifer Chada returns to the cabaret stage at DAVENPORT'S Piano Bar & Cabaret (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - http://www.davenportspianobar.com/) with her brand new show "Once Upon a Mid Lifetime." After Dark Award-winning cabaret artist, composer, and musical director Chuck Larkin will be on hand to serve as Musical Director and accompanist, promising some great work at the piano. Performances run from Wednesday, October 23rd through Sunday, October 27th, with shows Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 7:00 pm. There is a $15 cover charge and a 2-drink minimum.

No stranger to the stage, Jennifer Chada has performed major roles in many local Chicago theatres. She took the cabaret world by storm last year with her debut show "I Want More: Songs of ïReal Women' Doin' Their Dreams, Deeds, and Desires," which played to full houses at Davenport's. That show was named one of the top ten shows of 2001 by the Cabaret Hotline Online (see review in the Chicago Reviews section), as well as by Gay Chicago magazine. Jennifer has also had successful performances at the First Ever Chicago Cabaret Convention at the Park West and at the Chicago Humanities Festival's Songwriter's Concert, where she appeared with Francesca Blumenthal, Julie Gold, Carol Hall, and Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich.

Her new show, "Once Upon a Mid Lifetime," will feature songs from an eclectic array of songwriters, many of them new even to her. She will perform the song "Once Upon Your Lifetime" by Chicago composer Laura DeRocher, which lends the inspiration for the show, while Babbie Green's "High Tea with Lewis and Carroll" adds a humorous look at "the realities of maturing in this modern world." Part of the hour is dedicated to viewing the ebb and flow of relationships in this roller coaster called life. From contemporary composer Christine Lavin, Jennifer explores the yearning for "true love" that we all share in "The Kind of Love You Never Recover From," and she asks that famous musical question posed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney "will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64?"

Roger Anderson and Jeanne Croft, both members of the successful vocal group "Table for 5," will lend backup vocals, offering rich harmonies and duets. Mike Torti, Jennifer's husband, will also be on had to add musical accompaniment on Saxophone and EWI. Mike is no stranger to the cabaret stage himself. He's been heard playing in the award winning shows "Grapefruit Moon: The Music of Tom Waits" and "Sepia Tones: The Songs of Dorothy Dandridge." Rounding out the creative team is Jeff Award winning actor and director Larry Wyatt.
