LEADING LADIES OF CHICAGO CABARET PLAY WHEATON

Event Sponsored by Wheaton Community Theater Foundation

Chicago cabaret entertainers Jennifer Chada, Joan Curto and Lucia Spina gather for two evenings of musical frivolity featuring music from the cabaret songbook, old and new. These leading ladies of Chicago travel to the PLAYHOUSE 111 (111 North Hale Street Wheaton, IL - 630-260-1820) will be appearing in a fundraiser sponsored by Wheaton Community Theater Foundation (http://www.wheatondrama.org) for shows on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th at 8:00 pm.

These three women of Chicago Cabaret have developed acclaimed careers and are among Chicago's most popular and beloved cabaret performers. This debut combination showcase of Chicago's finest pairs familiar tunes like "Stepping Out With My Baby" and "Fascinating Rhythm" with some of America's NEW "standards to be" from contemporary songwriters like Stephen Schwartz and Jason Robert Brown.

Jennifer Chada's debut cabaret show "I WANT MORE" received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike, prompting After Dark critic Jeff Rossen to write "Chada bursts forth as a major new talent." That show was selected by several papers as one of the top ten cabaret shows of 2001. Jennifer was one of the featured performers included in the first ever Chicago Cabaret Convention held in Chicago in March of 2002 and performed in the ASCAP/Chicago Humanities Festival performance of "A Woman Wrote That Song."

Joan Curto has been garnering respect as a performer from both performers and critics. Her most recent cabaret show was named one of the top 10 in Chicago for 2001 by Cabaret Scenes and Gay Chicago Magazine and Cabaret Hotline Online. She has performed her cabaret shows many times at DAVENPORT'S Piano Bar & Cabaret (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - http://www.davenportspianobar.com/), Chicago's premiere cabaret room, and has been part of two Chicago Humanities Festival songwriters concerts. Joan appeared in Chess, the musical in concert, in Milwaukee in February with Stepping Out Productions. She made her NYC debut in April and will be part of a celebration of Richard Rodgers music in Chicago in August.

Lucia Spina debuted on the Chicago cabaret scene in March 2001 with IN RARE FORM, playing to sold-out houses at Davenport's Cabaret, where she returned in the fall of 2001 to appear in FALLING AROUND. Lucia also frequently makes guest appearances in DAVENPORT'S Piano Bar & Cabaret (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - http://www.davenportspianobar.com/) front room and also directed the popular Daryl Nitz's CELEBRITY SUPPER CLUB. Lucia has a vast list of theatrical credits including national tours of SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE and SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE TOO! Lucia has the dubious distinction of singing with Frankie Avalon in the Chicago production of TONY AND TINA'S WEDDING.

Musical Direction is by A. Scott Williams, Tickets are $20.00, and reservations are suggested.
