CY COLEMAN PERFORMS AT JOE'S PUB ON MARCH 8th & MARCH 9th

On the heels of his sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall, Cy Coleman, the Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winning composer who gave Broadway "City of Angels," "Sweet Charity," "Barnum" and "The Life" among others, will play his first club engagement in many years. Cy Coleman and his trio will play JOE'S PUB (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200 - Box Office: 212-539-8778 - http://www.joespub.com/) for two nights/four performances only on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm. Tickets are $35. Coleman and his trio will be jammin' at Joe's for an evening of Coleman jazz, Broadway classics, rarely-heard gems, and new songs from his hot new CD from Sony Classical "It Started With a Dream," which prompted this appearance.

"I have spent a great deal of my professional life behind pianos in jazz clubs in New York City and around the country," says Coleman. "Some of my earliest hits like īThe Best is Yet to Come" and "Witchcraft" were born out of these gigs. I recorded 16 albums. Now, here I am, with a brand new CD and as excited as ever to be playing with the trio at Joe's Pub. This is going to be an all new program; new songs from new shows as well as reinventing some old favorites."

Broadway has been at the heart of Coleman's career as a songwriter. He is considered one of the great New York composers. Coleman hit his stride on Broadway writing a string of memorable musicals such as "Wildcat," "Little Me," "Sweet Charity," "Seesaw," "I Love My Wife," "On the Twentieth Century" (Tony for Best Score), "Barnum," "City of Angels" (Tony Award for Best Musical and Score), "The Will Rogers Follies" (Tony Award for Best Musical and Score) and "The Life." A prolific songwriter who has worked with a variety of lyricists, his standards include "Big Spender," "Hey Look Me Over," "Witchcraft," "It Amazes Me," "The Best is Yet To Come" and "If My Friends Could See Me Now" among others.

Now available in stores, Coleman's new CD release, "It Started with a Dream" (Sony Classical), features the composer singing and playing classics from his remarkable catalogue as well as new songs, with guest artists Tony Bennett and Lillias White.
