Sarah DeLeo In New Show, "Too Young for the Blues? ..."

Sarah DeLeo returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/) this fall with her new show, "Too Young for the Blues? ..." opening on Sunday, September 29th at 4:30 pm. Directing the show is Deborah Kym - a theater, film, and television veteran in both New York and Los Angeles. Trumpeter Alex Norris brings considerable experience from the New York and international jazz scenes as the musical arranger. Accompanying Sarah are two talented musicians Lou Rainone on piano and David Ephross on bass. Additional dates are Tuesdays, October 1st & 8th at 6:30 pm.

The show tells the story of how Sarah a child of the 70s, found voice to her hopes, joys, and disappointments in the music of the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Sarah will perform the music of such well known composers and Iyricists as Duke Ellington, Lorenz Hart, and Richard Rodgers. Sarah notes, that she loves to sing standards. She finds that the beautiful melodies and the understated simplicity of the Iyrics help her express herself better than more contemporary music.

Sarah made her solo debut in 1997 with "The Song Is You," an energetic and fresh mix of pop standards. Since then Sarah has performed at venues all over Manhattan from Don't Tell Mama to Smoke to Cafe Tad. She is known for her unique voice and heartfelt interpretations of classic songs. She draws inspiration from singing greats such as Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland, but breathes new life into the standards repertoire with her own distinctive style to create a "fresh classic."
