
MELISSA
ERRICO IN "NEW STANDARDS" - HER CABARET DEBUT

WILL PERFORM AT THE
CAFE CARLYLE March 26th through April 13th
Melissa
Errico, one of Broadway's youngest leading ladies, will be appearing
for an exclusive three-week engagement, Tuesday, March 26th through
Saturday, April 13 that the prestigious THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East
76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600 - http://www.thecarlyle.com/cal.cfm).
This esteemed venue has hosted such musical greats as Barbara Cook,
Bobby Short, and Eartha Kitt. "New Standards," Melissa's cabaret debut
act, will have performances Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:45 pm
with late shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10:45 pm. There
is a $75 cover charge, no minimum. Dinner is served from 6:30 pm.
Accompanied by New York
pianist Lee Musiker, Melissa will sing both new and old standards,
ranging from Cole Porter to Randy Newman. Her program will include
some of Broadway's best, as well as highlights from her upcoming theater
projects with Stephen Sondheim and Michel Legrand. She will also sing
some special musical arrangements from her upcoming debut album for
Capitol Records. New to the world of New York cabaret, Melissa performed
her first solo concert series at Joe's Pub: "Real Emotional Girl-Melissa
Errico Sings The Music of Randy Newman" in May 2000.
Melissa
Errico began her career as a teenager playing "Cosette" in "Les Miserables,"
and then went on to star in such Broadway musicals as "Anna Karenina,"
"My Fair Lady," and "High Society." She has enjoyed great acclaim
for her participation in the City Center "Encores!" series, most notably
for her portrayal of the sultry and witty Venus in Kurt Weill's "One
Touch of Venus."
Melissa has just signed
to star as "Dot" in "Sunday in the Park with George" at the Kennedy
Center, part of the much-anticipated Sondheim Celebration this spring
in Washington, D.C. In recent years, she has worked in television
and film, appearing on such TV series as "Central Park West," "The
Norm Show" and "Ed." She has also appeared in the film "Frequency:
and will be seen in the upcoming Twentieth-Century Fox comedy "Life
of Something Like It" opposite Angelina Jolie, Edward Burns and Stockard
Channing.
Melissa received the 1996
Lucille Lortel Award for "Outstanding Performance by an Actress" for
her performance in "One Touch of Venus." She was a New York Drama
League honoree for her work in both "Major Barbara" (at the Irish
Repertory, where she is a member) and "High Society." She received
a Helen Hayes nomination for "My Fair Lady," as well as two Outer
Critics Circle nominations and Drama Desk Award nominations for her
performances in "My Fair Lady," "High Society" and "The Importance
of Being Earnest." Melissa was also awarded the Bay Area Theater Critics
Circle Award as "Best Actress in a Play or Musical" for her performance
in "High Society." She has made solo appearances on such concert stages
as The Kennedy Center Opera House on PBS and Symphony Space.
