Austin Cabaret Theatre Opens Season With "An Evening of Self Indulgence!" Starring Jason Graae

The irrepressible Jason Graae (Original Cast of "Forever Plaid") comes to Austin with his uproarious and charming show "An Evening of Self Indulgence!" will play at the historic SCOTTISH RITE THEATRE (18th & Lavaca Streets, Austin, TX - 512-453-ACTS) October 18th & 19th at 8:30 pm along with special guest Rebecca Ryan. Tickets are $35.

Broadway veteran and star of big and small screen, Jason most recently received rave reviews as "Njegus" in Los Angeles Opera's acclaimed production of "The Merry Widow." Also in LA, he was featured in "Forbidden Broadway Y2KLA!" for which he received an Ovation Award and an Ovation Nomination for "Forbidden Hollywood." He hung upside down for a year as "Harry Houdini" in the U.S. Premiere of "Ragtime" at the now demolished Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles. For "Reprise!" he starred opposite David Hyde Pierce and Lea DeLaria in "The Boys From Syracuse" and played "The French Ambassador" in "Of Thee I Sing."

On Broadway, Mr. Graae starred in "A Grand Night For Singing," "Falsettos," "Stardust," "Snoopy" and "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?" Off-Broadway shows include "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh," for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Actor in A Musical, "Forever Plaid," "Olympus On Mind," "All in the Timing" and many more. He made his Metropolitan Opera House debut in Twyla Tharp's "Everlast" with American Ballet Theater and performed several shows at New York's Rainbow and Stars.

Television appearances include the recurring role of "Chad" on Showtime's "Rude Awakening" with Lynn Redgrave and many guest-starring roles on "Maybe It's Me," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," "Friends," "Frasier," "Providence," "Caroline in the City"," Living Single," "Coach" and many more.

Jason was also a guest soloist with the Boston Pops on two broadcasts of "Evening at Pops" on PBS. He has recorded over thirty original-cast albums and studio CDs, including his two solo CDs," You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile - Jason Graae sings Charles Strouse" and "Jason Graae LIVE at The Cinegrill."

This past year, Jason has been touring the country with his award-winning, critically-acclaimed one-man show, as well as being on tour with "Hello, Jerry!" and the magnificent Jerry Herman, featuring Karen Morrow, Paige O'Hara, and Don Pippin.
