Green and John Boswell Return to THE GARDENIA
Babbie
Green and John Boswell return for two nights in October, on Friday
& Saturday, the 18th & 19th at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa
Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444). There is a $15
cover, 2-drink minimum.
It will be an evening
of of Ms. Green's original material, including the premiere of the
first song co-written by Boswell and Green, as well as works by Frank
Loesser, John Bucchino, and Green's father, legendary songwriter Johhny
Green (BODY AND SOUL, OUT OF NOWHERE). Special guests will be Kirsten
Benton and Stan Chandler, returning from their roles in the Denver
premiere performances of the new musical, DORIAN. Ms. Green will be
joining Mr. Boswell at the piano and he will be joining her in song.
Both performers are veterans
of the cabaret scene and long-time fans of each other's work, but
it wasn't until the Fall of 2001 that they began working together.
To top off the evening, they will be joined by Green's performance
partner of 11 years, Laurie McIntosh, and new bright light in cabaret,
Maude Maggart.
Boswell, with 6 CDs of
his own music on Hearts of Space Records, has won two GLAMA Awards,
as male artist and pop instrumentalist; the UCLA Frank Sinatra Award
for pop instrumentalist, and has been musical director and pianist
for Andy Williams, Judy Collins, and Bob Newhart.
Green received the first
Johnny Mercer Songwriter Award, as well as Back Stage's Bistro Award
for outstanding songwriter. Her CD, SOLDIERS OF THE HEART, on LML
Music (http://www.lmlmusic.com/),
was nominated for a MAC Award earlier this year; and her first CD,
IN NOBODY'S SHADOW, a treasure chest of cabaret singers and song,
is being re-released in September.
