Actrss/Cabaret Artist Gerta Grunen has a featured role in the film THE NEXT BIG THING, opening on Wednesday, May 29th at the ANGELICA FILM CENTER (Houston & Mercer Streets, NYC - 212-995-2000) and AMC EMPIRE 25 (42nd Street @ Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-398-3939). It opens in the Los Angeles area on June 14th at EDWARDS UNIVERSITY 6 (4252 Campus Drive, Irvine, CA - 949-854-8811) and LAEMMLE'S MUSIC HALL (9036 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA - 310-274-6869) . The film stars Chris Eigeman, Jamie Harris, Connie Britton and Farley Granger.

THE NEXT BIG THING is about a failed painter, Gus Bishop, who discovers that a fast talking thief makes off with one of his works and makes up a story the art world can't resist. The captivating tale of the conjured-up artist sells paintings all right, but bears no resemblance whatsoever to Gus's less-than-lackluster life story. So now Gus can have the fame. But only if he plays the game. Just how far will an artist doomed to obscurity go to become THE NEXT BIG THING? Sometimes the only way to make it is to fake it!

THE NEXT BIG THING has won the Best Audience Award for Best New Director at the Rohobeth Beach Independent Film Festival, Best Feature Film at the Director's View Film Festival and was an Official Selection at HBO'S US Comedy Arts Festival.
