Singer/Actress JULIE JOHNSON Performs at Judy's Chelsea

Shows Set For July 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th & 11th at 8:30 pm

After receiving rave reviews in the Off-Broadway Schmidt & Jones musical, ROADSIDE, singer/actress Julie Johnson is bringing a brand new evening of songs and stories to JUDY'S CHELSEA (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-929-5410 - http://www.judyschelsea.com/) for five performances July 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, and 11th at 8:30 pm. Cover charge is $15 with a food/beverage minimum of $10.

Ms. Johnson, a sixth generation Texan, will be performing original tunes from her recently released country-inflected CD, All Grown Up ... So Far." Her act will also include material by Patsy Cline, Amanda McBroom, Carol Hall and Kander & Ebb. The varied material, along with Julie's impression of Dolly Parton singing "I Will Always Love You" caused the Dallas Morning News to rave, "She's quintessential cabaret!" Accompanied on piano and occasional vocals by fellow Texan, Steve Barcus, the two have an easy-going banter that suggests a cabaret version of Sonny & Cher.

Julie Johnson was last seen on Broadway in Hal Prince's CANDIDE. Broadway veterans Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones developed the lead role in their recent Off-Broadway production, ROADSIDE, specifically for Julie after seeing her in the musical PAPER MOON at Goodspeed Opera House. She was also seen Off-Broadway in DAS BARBECU and toured with the Amanda McBroom musical, HEARTBEATS. Earlier this year, Julie played the title role in a seven-week sold-out run of A CLOSER WALK WITH PATSY CLINE at the Granbury Opera House in Dallas.

Ms. Johnson has amassed millions of young fans by bringing a voice to the 3-year-old dinosaur Baby Bop on the "Barney & Friends" children's television series. Cabaret fans will also remember Julie from many New York appearances with RSVP: The Vocal Group.
