"JUDY and ME" Extended Through January 2003 at ROSE'S TURN

Judy and Me," the new gay play that has been performed at UPSTAIRS AT ROSE'S TURN (55 Grove Street, NYC - 1-212-366-5438) for nine months, has been extended through January 2003. The show now enters its tenth month with performances set for Mondays, October 21st at 8:00 pm and November 18th at 9:00 pm, as well as Sunday, December 15th at 6:00 pm. The show will conclude its year-long run with two performances in January 2003.

A special "Judy and Me" Benefit Concert Performance on behalf of BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS will be held on Wednesday, October 30th at 8:00 pm. Author Charles Tolliver has written a very special one-night show starring Peter Mac as Judy Garland singing numbers from Judy's hit movies and TV shows. Also appearing will be special Guest Star Chuck Klotz, who will perform 4 musical numbers. Current "Judy and Me" cast members Baltimore Russell, Dylan Delatorre, Darren C. Polito, and Noelle Pasatieri will all make special appearances throughout the night. There is a $10 cover and 2-drink minimum. All cover charges from the evening will be donated to Broadway Cares. "Judy and Me" has raised over $1400.00 for BC/EFA.

The play focuses on Anthony, a 16 year-old boy trapped in a narrow minded Long Islandsuburb. An outcast at school, he is the daily target of verbal and physical abuse from his classmates. Things aren't any better at home. His father Sal is a walking time bomb and a constant source of pain to Anthony and his mother.

His escape? The legendary entertainer Judy Garland. She comes to life before his eyes, helping him through the rough spots with encouragement and funny stories. Through this encounter Anthony learns to deal with his dysfunctional family, rotten school life and his sexual preference. The play tackles both the issues of homophobia and domestic abuse. It also delves into Garland's everlasting appeal to the gay community.
