Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs Sponsors IMAGE SEMINAR

On Saturday, June 1st from 4:00 to 6:00 pm MAC will present The Image Seminar, created by current MAC Board Member-at-Large James Beaman, at SWEET CAROLINES (369 West 46th Street, NYC). This unique seminar is designed to assist the professional cabaret performer to create an attractive, effective and memorable personal image that will enhance their career. The Image Seminar also will help individuals to create a signature style that will be associated with their talent. Admission is $5.00 for MAC Members and $10.00 for others. Seating is limited to 75 participants, so reservations are a must, made by calling the MAC Phone Hotline at 212-465-2662.

The seminar will include a panel discussion, group exercises, a professional makeup demo, a fashion show, and a demo and discussion about how to transfer that fresh new image into photographs. The Image Seminar is for both men and women, newcomers and seasoned talent, who wish to enhance their physical style. The panelists for The Image Seminar are:

Stephen Mosher, leading cabaret and theatre photographer, who has taken pictures of such cabaret greats as Karen Mason, Baby Jane Dexter, David Campbell, and the late, great, Nancy LaMott, among a host of others. Stephen is also the author of "The Sweater Book," a collection of celebrity portraits soon to be published to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Stephen will discuss the role of the photo and the photographer in the successful marketing of the cabaret performer and will illustrate with examples of some of his best work.

Deborah Caney, professional costume designer, currently represented in New York by "Romeo and Juliet" at the Pearl Theatre Company. Deborah is an expert on creating incredible costumes on a budget and is the creator of Mr. Beaman's dazzling Marlene Dietrich costumes.

Jennifer Houston is a makeup artist and hair stylist working with Stephen Mosher Studio and a professional cabaret singer and actress. Jennifer will be providing expertise on hair styles for the cabaret performer and discussing the role of the stylist in the photo studio and how one can best utilize his or her skills.

James Beaman, creator of the Image Seminar, is a MAC and Bistro Award winning performer and has been a professional makeup artist for over a decade, making over such cabaret luminaries as Karen Mason, Steven Brinberg ("Simply Barbra") and Audrey Lavine, among others, as well as being a representative for professional makeup lines like Smashbox and Lorac.
