Sharon
McNight's Tribute to Sophie Tucker Extended for Third Time!
RED HOT MAMA, the musical
tribute to Sophie Tucker, has been extended through August 4th at
THE YORK THEATRE at Saint Peter's Church (619 Lexington Avenue, NYC,
Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200). Conceived by and starring Tony Award nominee
Sharon McNight, with musical direction by Louis Goldberg and direction
by Jay Berkow, RED HOT MAMA includes such favorites as "Some of These
Days," "After You've Gone," "My Yiddishe Mama," "I'm Living Alone
(And I Like It)," and of course, "Last of the Red Hot Mamas!" Performances
are Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 pm and Wednesdays, Saturdays,
and Sundays at 2:30 pm.
Tovah Feldshuh and Liz
Callaway were supposed to star in "The Lady in Penthouse B" at THE
YORK THEATRE from April 30th to June 9th, but that show had to be
postponed because Ms. Feldshuh was booked in a play ("Kilt") that
had hoped to move to Broadway. So, the theater company replaced that
run with "Red Hot Mama," which opened May 8th. It was then extended
through June 30th, and now it has been extended a third time.
