James Naughton in his New York Cabaret Debut


Will perform at The Cafœ Carlyle April 16th through May 4th

James Naughton, the two-time Tony Award-winning leading man, will make his official New York cabaret debut during a three-week engagement, Tuesday, April 16th through Saturday, May 4th at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-570-7189 - http://www.thecarlyle.com/cal.cfm). Mr. Naughton's all-new show will have performances Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:45 pm with late shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10:45 pm. There is a $50 cover charge on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 10:45. The cover charge for Friday at 8:45 and for both shows on Saturday is $60. There is no minimum required at any performance. Dinner is served from 6:30 pm.

Mr. Naughton will be accompanied by a quartet led by his Musical Director John Oddo. Like his successful previous show "Street of Dreams," this all-new show will be an eclectic mix of songs ranging from old (Rodgers and Hart, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter) to new (Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Dave Frishberg), which Mr. Naughton will present in his relaxed and charming style.

James Naughton is a familiar face in all mediums of entertainment Æ from the Broadway and regional theatre stages to television and feature films. His work in dramas, comedies and musicals has brought him critical acclaim. He is the winner of two Tony Awards as Best Actor in a Musical for his performances in Chicago and City of Angels," for which the latter also earned him a Drama Desk Award. His other Broadway credits include "Four Baboons Adoring the Sun" "I Love My Wife" and "Whose Life Is It Anyway," while his Off-Broadway appearances include E.L. Doctorow's "Drinks Before Dinner" and "Losing Time." He has worked as both a performer and director at the Williamstown Theater Festival, where he directed a critically acclaimed production of Arthur Miller's "The Price," which moved to Broadway.

Mr. Naughton's film credits include "The Good Mother" with Diane Keaton, The Glass Menagerie with Joanne Woodward and The Paper Chase. He has appeared on television in the made for television movies "Travelin' Man," "Last of the Great Survivors" and "Look Homeward Angel" and on several network series including "Who's The Boss?," "Brooklyn Bridge," "The Cosby Mysteries" and "Ally McBeal."

His first solo evening "James Naughton" Live played The Manhattan Theater Club in 1998. A new version entitled "Street of Dreams" was produced by Mike Nichols and played to great acclaim at the Promenade Theatre in 1999. He has been touring the country in this production for the last two years and has played at numerous venues, including The Hollywood Bowl for 18,000 people.

This summer, James will direct a production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" starring Paul Newman and Jane Curtin at the Westport County Playhouse in Westport, CT.
