At "HeartSong: The Heroes Concert," the benefit that John Hoglund and Erv Raible produced at THE BOTTOM LINE (15 West 4th Street, NYC - 212-228-6300) on October 8, 2001, Erv realized that numerous songs were already being written as a direct response to September 11th; in particular the anthem, "I Believe In America," written by Ann Hampton Callaway, that closed the evening.

It was Ann's song "Wherever You Are" that, in 1990, inspired Mr. Raible's project "Here's To Our Friends ... The AIDS Music Revue." Thus, on October 9th he set out to create an evening comprised of songs that were being written about the current world situation and how it has changed the lives of New Yorkers and the World. Over ninety pieces of music were submitted from coast to coast, and as far away as Australia.

"I feel that the twenty-three pieces of music chosen, for "September 11, 2001 ... The Musical Response," tell an insightful story of life since the tragic morning of September 11th. Reflecting how we as Americans have become stronger, more inspired, are healing, and are moving ahead as individuals, while becoming increasingly more united as a people, and as a nation," said Erv, recently.

Contributing songwriters include: Ann Hampton Callaway (CBS-TV "The Nanny Named Fran"), Tom Chapin (3-time Grammy nominee / ABC-TV Peabody & Emmy Award winning host of "Make A Wish"), Gilles Chiasson, Rick Crom, Annie Dinerman, Kitty Donohoe, David Friedman, Kathie Lee Gifford, Zina Goldrich, Dan Green, Dan Gross, Carol Hall ("The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"), Eric Hansen, Marcy Heisler, Joan Javits, Lina Koutrakos, Christine Lavin (NAIRD / New York Music / ASCAP Awards), Dennis Livingston, Michael Mark, Shelly Markham, John McCutcheon, John Meyer, Holly Near, Charles Osgood (CBS), Tom Paxton, Jean-Pierre Perreaux, Erv Raible, Chris Roberts, Michael Silversher, Phil Springer and Pam Tate.
