FROM
THIS DAY FORWARD the music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz Extended

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!
Ergo Theatre Company presents
FROM THIS DAY FORWARD, featuring the music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz,
including several never-before-heard Schwartz songs returns to DON'T
TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/)
on Mondays, June 24th, July 1st and July 8th at 9:00 pm. There is
a $12 cover and 2-drink minimum. The cast includes Jedidiah Cohen,
Colin Hanlon, Robyn Lee, and Johanna Pinzler, with Mark Hartman as
musical director.
Conceived and directed
by Ergo's Artistic Director Robert Jay Cronin ("La Boheme" National
Tour, "Personals" revival, "Rags" concert with Anne Runolfsson and
Leslie Kritzer), the show is a new kind of revue featuring the music
and lyrics of Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz ("Godspell," "Pippin"
and the up-coming "Wicked"). Originally presented in March, and extended
three additional sold-out weeks, FROM THIS DAY FORWARD has now been
expanded to 75-minutes, with the supervision and support of Stephen
Schwartz.
FROM THIS DAY FORWARD
uses over 60 Stephen Schwartz songs ranging from the well-known "Corner
of the Sky" to the obscure "Prestidigitation" - but they will be experienced
in an entirely new way. Since Mr. Schwartz has opened his entire musical
catalogue to Ergo, many of his cut and un-released songs will make
their NYC premiere in FROM THIS DAY FORWARD.
Robert Jay Cronin has
tossed the idea of a traditional musical revue out the window by taking
Stephen's songs out of context and creating a patchwork of melodies
and lyrics, which span Stephen's 30-year evolution as a songwriter.
As Stephen has explored various musical styles, one thing has remained
constant about his writing: the themes of love, loss, and yearning.
It is these universalities that sparked this plot-driven musical tribute
that chronicles the lives of four people who "know there's something
more than this."
Ergo Theatre Company was
established in 1997, as a not-for-profit producing group, to develop,
workshop, produce and promote the work of new and rarely produced
playwrights, directors, actors, musicians, and designers. We are founded
on and grounded in the belief that artists must continually generate
their own opportunities, and we do so by bringing together artists
of various backgrounds and artistic interests to create fresh and
inspired theatrical experiences in a cooperative environment.
