"ONE
MOMENT, PLEASE" with Toby Blackwell Returns to The Duplex
Toby
Blackwell returns to the New York cabaret stage with the second run
of his critically-acclaimed show, "One Moment Please," at THE DUPLEX
(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/)
on Fridays, January 24th & 31st and February 7th. Musical director
is D. Jay Bradley. Maria Gentile directs this evening about "the moments
that define us, the moments that change us, and the moments we realize
Whitney Houston is crazy." There will be a $10 music charge and a
2-drink minimum.
In the show, Toby performs
stand-up style comedy about his life experiences, including stories
about growing up with his crazy Filipino mother and his not-always-pleasant
experiences working for Disney in Japan, while becoming thoroughly
involved in his tribute to 1984 Grammy nominees. And, of course, the
show features a special Whitney Houston song parody.
Toby has also gained a
following for his vocal renditions of a wide repertoire of pop, R
& B and contemporary theater music, with selections ranging from Disney
to Whitney, from Broadway to country. Toby has performed in cabaret
and theatre throughout the country. He recently returned to New York
from a run performing the role of Coalhouse in "Ragtime."
