Toby Blackwell Is "Bitter" at THE DUPLEX

Toby Blackwell returns to the New York cabaret stage with a brand - new show, "BITTER," at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) on Fridays, October 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th at 7:00 pm. D. Jay Bradley music directs and Maria Gentile directs this multi-media presentation, which completes a trilogy begun with Toby's previous Duplex cabaret outings, "Home" and "One Moment, Please." There will be a $10 music charge and a 2-drink minimum.

Mr. Blackwell has been a gay Naval officer, a theme park singer, and a wannabe "Survivor" contestant. In this new show, Toby's unique brand of humor shines through as he discusses these and many other detours in his life, through video, stories and song. From stories of how living with his crazy Filipino mother has prepared him for reality TV to his humorous look at the reality of "Don't ask, don't tell," Toby will engage audiences while managing to somehow inject some serious messages.

And of course, Miss Whitney Houston will make her presence known, as she did so memorably singing "How Much Is Blow?" during "One Moment, Please." For "Bitter," Miss Houston will be joined on stage by some of her embattled diva sisters, performing more of Toby's well-known "dishy parodies."

Toby has also gained a following for his vocal abilities. Audiences have literally shouted compliments at him in the middle of his shows. His varied repertoire, everything from & Sting to Cy Coleman, contains something for everyone and always leaves the audience wondering what will come next. He inspires and entertains the room with his expert delivery and interpretation of every song.
