"CANDYLAND - A Kid's Cabaret!" Part of 2002-03 Cabaret Nouveau Series

Cabaret artist and BPP's CABARET NOUVEAU Producer Candy Decker shares her childhood vision of the world in "CANDYLAND - A Kids Cabaret!," on Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st at 3:00 pm at the Bloomington Playwrights Project (312 South Washington Street, Bloomington, IN - 812-355-9001). A recipient of the 2002 INDIANA ARTS COMMISSION INDIVIDUAL ARTIST's AWARD, Candy has created a cabaret for kids and with the help of the young, talented Annelise Kent-Isaac, Chantel Nicole Martinez and Maya Wahrman together they share stories from Candy's childhood, peek into her elementary school diary, sing songs from Candy's youth and discover that no matter how long ago one was a child the hopes, joys, and dreams always remain in one's heart forever. Tickets are $8 General Admission and $5 Children (12 and under).

Through stories and songs Candy encourages the use of imagination, helping children to think about what is important in their lives, all through the creative expression of cabaret. Songs performed by Candy and her guest kid singers include some old favorites plus some new songs such as "Pure Imagination," "Figure Eight," "High Hopes," "Let Me Entertain You," "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better," "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" and "Free To Be You and Me." CANDYLAND is made possible by the INDIANA ARTS COMMISSION.

Candace Decker has worked regionally as an actress, a storyteller, an acting teacher and a cabaret artist.
