CABARET
CARAVAN INVADES PALM SPRINGS
Entertainer Les Michaels
brings to Palm Springs, California, Saturday, January 11th, the first-ever,
CABARET CARAVAN. A Palm Springs resident, Les hosts the highly successful
Cabaret Open Mic Mondays in the lounge at THE LOUNGE at VERMONT (1714
North Vermont Avenue, Hollywood, CA - 323-662-6263). Described as
"a Progressive Party with singing," he expects a large turn out due
partly to the advanced coverage already received from all the local
press and the ads placed by all the venues.
The group will be made
up of dozens of the brightest stars on the Los Angeles cabaret circuit.
Scheduled to appear are Greg Dobrin, Lorraina Marro, Deborah Downey,
Nomi Lyons, Kiela Mellot, Keri Kelsey, Michael Taylor Gray, Wayne
Sutton, The Kitchenettes (Linda Kosut, Lua Hadar & Eryka Raines),
Peggy Judy, Lotte Trouble, Robert Glenn, Carole Stuart, Marrianne
Ferrari, Joanne Tatham, Troy Skinner, Kitty Ultrasound, Kevin Kennard
& Coley Grundman.
The tour will begin at
the RAINBOW CACTUS (212 South Indian Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA)
at 5:30 pm, where the group will be introduced to the first wave of
audience members. There, they will warm up around the piano bar with
Lori Donato who will follow the group to the other venues and act
as accompanist to the group. Rainbow Cactus manager, William Wakely
is very excited and has arranged for appetizers for the entire group
as well as the audience.
Moving on to the BAMBOO
LOUNGE in the Racquet Club of Palm Springs (2743 North Indian Canyon
Drive, Palm Springs, CA) at 7:30 pm where Manager Berit Reistad says
she is anxious for the visitors to see their new cabaret showroom
that is opening soon. The next stop at 9:30 pm is the WILDE GOOSE
DINNER THEATER (67938 Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA). Damian,
the manager has been filling this popular club with big names and
their $35 dinner/show packages.
The last stop on the Cabaret
Caravan will be 11:30 pm till closing at BLAME IT ON MIDNIGHT (777
East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, CA). Peter Hamlin manages
this restaurant and nightclub and is looking for new acts and is sure
to be taking note of our singers.
In keeping with the Mardi-Gras
theme at BLAME IT ON MIDNIGHT, Les will be providing everyone, including
the audience, with a different color string of Mardi-Gras beads at
each stop. By the end of the night, they will have a full set of colorful
beads which will demonstrate to the managers just how big a crowd
we drew.
There will be no cover
charge collected at these venues and the singers will not be paid,
but hopefully this will be enough to convince them to hire talent
from our group for their venues.
