Joan
Crowe Brings WOMEN OF NOTE to Judy's Supper Club
2002
MAC Award Winner, Joan Crowe takes a look at female songwriters of
the 20th Century in her new show, which will be at JUDY'S CHELSEA
(169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 1-212-929-5410 - http://www.judyschelsea.com/)
on Wednesdays in March, the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th at 8:30 pm. She
will be accompanied by musical director Tedd Firth. The show is directed
by Lina Koutrakos, with musical arraignments by Joan Crowe, Tedd Firth,
Michael Holland and Tracy Stark. There is a $15 cover and a $12 food/drink
minimum.
Filled with humor and
poignancy Ms. Crowe asks the question: why aren't women songwriters
like Ma Rainy, Betty Comden, Ellie Greenwich and Diane Warren household
names like Gershwin, Porter or Arlen? She examines the significance
of musical greats, Bessie Smith, Dorothy Fields, Carol King and Joni
Mitchell, as well as introduces some lesser-known women who are currently
writing the standards of tomorrow.
