Moira
Danis in "Double Rainbow" at DON'T TELL MAMA
Moira
Danis returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788
- http://www.donttellmama.com/)
with a brand new show, "Double Rainbow." Following her successful
engagement last year at this venerable midtown cabaret, the Iyric
soprano offers three performances of her new show on Saturday, May
3rd at 4:30 pm, Sunday, May 4th at 5:00 pm. and Saturday, May 10th
at 4:30 pm. Moira is accompanied once again by jazz pianist Gregory
Toroian whose work on Sue Matsuki's CD "A New Take" garnered critical
acclaim. She is directed by MAC award winner Helen Baldassare.
Double Rainbow will find
Moira exploring and celebrating the impact of Latin American rhythms
and cultural elements on 20th century composers and artists in the
United States. Moira's show weaves Latin influences into popular music
standards, Tin Pan Alley novelty songs and rarely performed, classically
inspired serenades, from the song books of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ernesto
Lecuona, Maria Grever and others. Her beautiful voice, accomplished
style, and sensitivity to this unique blend of materials will leave
her audiences with an appreciation of the life-affirming and soul-soothing
elements that have contributed to this extraordinarily diverse musical
catalogue.
Moira Danis has performed
at Palsson's Supper Club, Rose's Turn and other New York cabaret rooms.
She has appeared in Off-Broadway productions of "The City Suite" and
"Ruddigore" and portrayed Julie in a regional theatre production of
"Show Boat." Moira is a member of Actors' Equity Association, a graduate
of the Eastman School of Music and teaches music in Westchester County.
