Scott Coulter & Audrey Lavine in "Goin' Home: Songs of the South" at MAMA ROSE'S

Back by Popular Demand for Two Nights Only

Following their critically acclaimed run at THE DUPLEX in June, MAC and Bistro award winners Scott Coulter and Audrey Lavine bring their hit show "Goin' Home - Songs of the South" to MAMA ROSE'S (219 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-533-0558 - http://www.mamaroses.net/) for two nights only, October 9th and 10th at 7:00 pm. The show explores musical traditions of the south, as well as songs that celebrate the people, places, and customs of this region that has contributed so much to the character of our nation. The southern-born singers' musical journey home was hailed by critics and audiences alike. Musical director is Ross Patterson. There is a $15 cover, 2 drink minimum - $5 discount for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members.

"Goin' Home" grew out of the singers' experience performing together at the 2002 MAC Awards show, watered with Jack Daniels, and rooted in the fertile ground of their common southern heritage. Coulter was born in Nashville, TN; Lavine was born in Fort Worth, TX, and raised in Greensboro, NC.

In addition to their MAC and Bistro awards, and southern roots, Coulter and Lavine combine uncommon musicianship with a style that has been honed by their extensive musical theater backgrounds. Both are graduates of the prestigious Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Coulter, known for his concert performances of the music of Stephen Schwartz, also toured the country as Jinx in "Forever Plaid," and appeared in the world premiere of "Floyd Collins." Lavine's Broadway credits include associations with some of the great leading ladies of our day, including Betty Buckley, Barbara Cook, Judy Kaye, and Teresa Stratas.

Joined by Ross Patterson, musical director for the Broadway By the Year series, and long-time Lavine collaborator, Coulter and Lavine promise audiences an evening showcasing the joys, regrets, triumphs and contradictions of the place we call the South and its influence on the music we love.
