Ricky Ian Gordon in Concert at THE DUPLEX

Celebrated composer Ricky Ian Gordon will present two very special concerts of his work at the historic THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/ ) on Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th at 6:00 pm. The show is to celebrate the release of his new songbook, "Finding Home," and features special guests Lewis Cleale, Malcom Gets, Rosena Hill, Jessica Molaskey, Brooke Sunny Moriber, Billy Porter, Diane (Fratantoni) and Brian Sutherland, and Michael Winther and Mr. Gordon at the piano. There is an $18 cover, as well as a 2-drink minimum.

Mr. Gordon has been hailed as one of the leading voices for the musical theatre, as well as the worlds of opera and classical music. He is the prolific composer of "Dream True; States of Independence," "Stonewall/Night Variations" (with Tina Landau), "The Tibetan Book of the Dead" (with Jean Claude Van Itallie), "Only Heaven" with (Langston Hughes and Nancy Rhodes), "Sweet Song," and "Morning Star" (with William Hoffman), "Autumn Valentine" (with Dorothy Parker). He was part of Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series in "Bright Eyed Joy/The Music of Ricky Ian Gordon," which he also performed at The Guggenheim.

Recordings include Audra McDonald's "Way Back to Paradise," "Bright-Eyed Joy Of Eternal Light" (Water Music), "Only Heaven" and "Genius Child" (a song cycle for Carolyn Blackwell). He has garnered a number of prestigious awards for his work, including The National Institute for Music Theater Award, The Stephen Sondheim Award, The Gilman and Gonzalez-Falla Music Theatre Foundation Award, The Jonathan Larson Foundation Award, The Constance Klinsky Award and The Richard Rodgers Award. Last season, Mr. Gordon's work, "My Life With Albertine," was seen at Playwrights Horizons. Most recently, a collection of his music has been published in a songbook titled "Finding Home," available now from Hal Leonard publishing.
