TOM GROUNDS MAKING HIS NEW YORK CABARET DEBUT IN NOVEMBER

Tom Grounds is bringing his critically acclaimed show "Something That I Wanted You to Know" to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) for two shows (Tuesdays, November 18th & 25th at 7:00 pm) and also to the newest jewel in the New York Cabaret world MAMA ROSE'S (219 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-533-0558 - http://www.mamaroses.net/) also for two shows (Saturday & Sunday, November 22nd & 23rd at 4:00 pm). These four performances mark Tom's New York Cabaret Debut but not his New York singing debut, which was in the recital hall of Carnegie Hall in 1985 when he was a soloist with the Gary Beard Chorale. There is a $15 cover and 2-drink minimum for shows at each venue. There is a $5 discount for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and MAC members.

"Something That I Wanted You to Know" is an autobiographical look at Tom's life through songs of the ever growing American Songbook. The show includes songs by Craig Carnelia, Brian Lasser, Jason Robert Brown, Brad Ross & Ellen Greenfield, Wayne Moore, Tom Andersen, Babbie Green, and many others. The show explores Relationships, Families, Careers, Hopes and dreams along the road of life. In one or more of these areas, we've all had a moment when we look back and ask "What was I thinking?" With humor and sensitivity, Tom shares his experiences of making sense out of adolescence, the ups and downs of falling in (and out) of love, and unpacking the baggage of the past.

The show started life in 1999 when artistic director Linda K. Leonard, musical director Ricky Pope and Tom conceived a 90-minute show under a different name for the Cabaret Series of a theatre in Dallas. That show was re-worked and serves as Tom's debut CD which was released last November. In March of this year, the current 60-minute version was developed and that is the show that Tom, Linda and Ricky are taking to New York.

Mr. Grounds has been a professional performer since the age of 13 when he landed an equity role in Chicago. Over the years Tom has been seen on many regional musical theatre stages, and with regional orchestras and opera companies in various roles.
