SAM HARRIS RETURNS TO LOS ANGELES IN "SAM."

THE LIMITED ENGAGEMENT AT THE CANON THEATRE OPENS SATURDAY, MARCH 29th FOR SEVEN PERFORMANCES ONLY

Sam Harris returns to Los Angeles, straight from the Broadway stage of the Tony Award-winning production of Mel Brooks' "The Producers," to star in "SAM." at THE CANON THEATRE (205 North Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, CA - 310-859-2830). Music director Todd Schroeder is set to accompany Harris. The limited engagement will open on Saturday, March 29th for seven performances only. Additional shows, all at 8:00 pm, will be on Saturday, April 5th, Sunday, April 6th (7:00 pm), Friday, April 11th, Saturday, April 12th, Friday, April 18th and Saturday, April 19th. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 10th. Tickets are $30 & $40.

"SAM." combines an eclectic mix of songs from pop to theatre, as well as Harris's own brand of comedy, from anecdotal to topical. In this intimate theatrical concert, Harris performs without the band, fancy production and, as stated by Harris, "not a single black woman to back me up ... I'm practically unplugged."

The diversified career of Sam Harris has run the gamut from singer and songwriter to actor on Broadway, film and television to writer, director and producer. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Sam first splashed into the public eye as the grand champion of "Star Search" in its premiere season. His phenomenal "overnight" rise catapulted him into the recording industry, where he received gold record status "Sam Harris" and "Sam-I-Am," which he also produced. His recordings also include the critically acclaimed "Standard Time," "Different Stages," "Revival," "On This Night" and "Always."

On Broadway, in addition to his recent stint in "The Producers," Sam received a Drama Desk nomination for his role in "Tommy Tune's Grease" and a Drama-League Award as well as Tony, Outer Critic's Circle and Drama Desk nominations for his work in Cy Coleman's "The Life." He has also starred in such musicals as "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Cabaret," "Hard Copy," "The Jazz Singer," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," his one man show, "Revival," and the record breaking Los Angeles Reprise Production of "Hair." In addition, Sam has toured extensively in concert, playing to sold-out audiences worldwide, and has made appearances on numerous television shows and specials.

Behind the scenes, Sam's writing credits include the sit-com, "Down To Earth," as well as the Los Angeles produced musicals "Hurry! Hurry! Hollywood!" (which he directed) and "Hard Copy," both of which received myriad awards. Sam co-produced the television special "Love Letter To New York" and wrote/supervised arrangements for the CBS television hit, "Michael Jackson's 30 Year Anniversary." He is also a published essayist.
