David Hawkins in NOM DE PLUME One Night Only

David Hawkins (The Hawk) is about to fly into the Melbourne cabaret scene, bringing his hit one-man show Nom de Plume to CHAPEL OFF CHAPEL (12 Little Chapel Street, Prahran, Melbourne, AUS - Bookings 03-8290-7011) for one night only on Monday, June 16th at 8:00 pm. Mr. Hawkins will be in Melbourne to perform the acclaimed role of Lee Gordon in the revival of "Shout: The Musical of the Wild One." The Hawk will be accompanied by Andrew Worboys who is known for his talents as both a musical director and composer. Worboys has been musical director to some of the best - Paul Capsis, Todd McKenney, Sharon Millerchip, Margi de Ferranti and Queenie Van de Zandt. Tickets are $15 & $20.

The Hawk's wild flight spans the music of Weill and Brecht, through to the dark strains of Melanie Safka, Lou Reed and David Bowie and everyone from Maxwell Demon, solicitors, prostitutes to celebrity! This is no normal cabaret - in fact it is true kabarett. No one is safe in this high powered, non-stop journey with music and dialogue written by Wednesday Kennedy and David Hawkins.

David Hawkins is a major contributor to the Sydney cabaret scene. He opened the Bondi venue, KABARETT JUNCTION (139 Oxford Street, Bondi Junction, Sydney, AU - 1300 136 166- http://www.showtune.com.au/) Kabarett Junction in October 2001, having previously revived "The Kirk Gallery," a famed 1970s music venue. "Nom de Plume" played for over twelve months in various venues across Sydney including SIDE ON, LA BAR and the CLARENDON CABARET in Katoomba.

His commitment to - and passion for - music, musical theatre and cabaret is reflected in his career as a performer, having started as a chorister at St Andrews Cathedral, moving to Opera Australia in 1987 where he performed in over a dozen productions including Carmen, Tosca, Turandot and Baz Luhrmann's original production of La Boheme. He most recently performed in a cabaret devised and directed by legendary director Jim Sharman at KABARETT JUNCTION before joining the "Shout!" tour for Jacobsen's in 2002.
