Chelsea has
appeared in several cabaret showcases around the city and continually
participates in workshops and seminars to hone her craft. Before deciding
to become a cabaret artist, Chelsea worked behind the scenes at the
former 1560 AM WQEW radio station in a variety of functions. But it
was her role as a producer working with the late Stan Martin that
she fell in love with the art form of performance cabaret.
Ms. Hudgins
has worked as a producer on a variety of programs that were regularly
heard on WQEW including: segments of THE WQEW CABARET WITH STAN MARTIN,
LIVE FROM THE RAINBOW ROOM, SWINGING TUESDAYS AT TOBIN PLAZA, JIMMY
ROSELLI LIVE FROM TRUMP PLAZA, WQEW LIVE ON BROADWAY AT B. SMITH'S
ROOFTOP CAF, WQEW ANNIVERSARY SHOWS LIVE FROM THE MUSEUM OF TELEVISION
AND RADIO, and numerous listener live events. She has been fortunate
enough to work behind the scenes on the live performances of such
luminaries as Tony Bennett, Nancy LaMott, Mandy Patinkin, Mel Torm,
Joe Williams, Rosemary Clooney, Ruth Brown, Hildegarde, Betty Buckley,
Eartha Kitt, Julie Wilson, and dozens of other performers who visited
the WQEW studios to perform live.
Chelsea was
recently appointed to the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets &
Clubs - http://www.macnyc.com/) board of directors. She will be serving
as Director of Volunteers. She is also a graphic designer who has
designed several promotional pieces for MAC, including the MAC Outreach
Holiday Caroling flyer. She also appeared in the opening number at
the 2003 MAC Awards Show at SYMPHONY SPACE (Broadway at 95th Street,
NYC) in April. It was Chelsea's design that was chosen to grace the
cover of the program for the 2003 MAC Awards.
