Lorinda Lisitza Reprises Award Winning Show

"Songs In the Style of Weill" starring Lorinda Lisitza in her acclaimed MAC and Bistro award winning solo cabaret debut, will be featured at THE JEAN COCTEAU REPERTORY THEATRE (330 Bowery, NYC - 212-677-0060 ext. 16) for one night only on Monday, September 8th, 7:30 pm. A celebration featuring the music of Kurt Weill as well as songs written for Weill's wife, Lotte Lenya, by Marc Blitzstein and Kander and Ebb, this show's unique twist also features music written by Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman and Joni Mitchell, each reminiscent of the style of Weill. Albert Ahronheim, whose Off- Broadway credits include "The Big Bang," "The Immigrant," and "Doctor, Doctor," is the musical director. Tickets are $15.

Conceived and created by Lorinda Lisitza and Hal Simons, "Songs in the Style of Weill" offers an innovative combination of long loved tradition as well as a fresh perspective on the artist's work that is sure to create an entirely new generation of Weill fans.

Lorinda Lisitza performed in the Off¨Broadway show "Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill" at Theater Ten Ten and The Triad. She was also named an "up and comer" by In Theater Magazine, and appeared in John Astor-Kaye's one woman musical, "Daddy's Girl." Cabaret audiences last saw Lisitza featured as Alice, the Special-K addict in "That's My New York!" at JUDY'S CHELSEA. Recently she has performed at the Neue Galerie, Symphony Spaces' "Wall to Wall Joni Mitchell," Town Hall in "Once and a Weill," and will be featured this spring at the Bam Cafe.

Hal Simons directed and choreographed the Off-Broadway production of "Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill" at Theater Ten Ten, and then helmed the move to The Triad. He also did the original choreography for Off-Broadway's "Tony and Tina's Wedding." Fans of cabaret may remember him in the MAC-nominated "The M.G.M. Society."
